Being paid $5

In fiverr you get someone to work for you for $5 (actually it's roughly about $3.89-$3.90 if you minus the fiverr fee and Paypal fee) and the person doesn't deliver much because the payment is below minimum wage. So do you think it's reasonable to work for $5 or less? I know in some countries $5 is a lot to them. But the problem is clients expect quality work for $5 and even take advantage of you. In my opinion, I think working for $5 to provide quality work can be quite unreasonable unless the work takes you a few minutes (which the client doesn't want because they want quality work) or you are from a third world country.

Hi trinity,I think it's not require to work for $3.5 where you have to listen client tasks. It will be difficult to understand what is inside clients heart.Earn more money in mylot.Spend more time in mylot.Dont work under any client.

Earn more money in MyLot??? Really? MyLot only pays you a few cents if post like a few hundred of discussions of replies. I don't mind working under a client (Well I'm suppose to after I finish college). If I work under a client, I will make sure I get paid more. Maybe for a student like me I can earn about $300-$500 a month without using sites like fiverr(I don't like that site, I think it's not worth the trouble)? Which is something I can't do in MyLot.

I saw fiverr website and i read reviews also.So many competitors for single job. Some fellows are over qualified. It's very difficult to make money in fiverr unless you are good at marketing. Facebook concept is nice,But did you find any buyers from facebook adds?

I think it's possible to create quality work at that rate. As a provider, if you can think of a quality service you can provide (that's in demand) that won't take you too long to complete, then you're at an advantage. That way, the buyer benefits and you benefit. The amount of time it takes you to complete an order determines whether it's below minimum wage. If you set up a gig that takes you 15 mins to complete, then that's $15.68 an hour. The longer it takes you, the closer to minimum wage you get. Another thing: I don't know if you're aware, but when you reach certain levels, you can offer extras on a gig for more money. I'm at Level 1, so I can offer to do something extra for $5 or $10. So say I have a gig for $5 to write a 200 word article, on that same gig I can offer to promote the article for an extra $5 or $10 (depending on how many places I plan on promoting it). Or for an extra $5/$10, I can offer to translate the article I've written. Also, you're allowed to create a gig asking for a tip if your buyer's really happy with your work. So I think there are ways to make it work for you, but you've got to really think about how to go about it.

Why do you think it wouldn't work for you, Trinity?

Because of the limit impose when I started out. I don't like the fact you can't choose the price you are comfortable with unless you reach the higher level. I also don't like the fact that fiverr take $1 from your pay then it leaves you with $4. (I know, sites like these need to be paid for offering their service. And last of all I'm not fond of high competitions on the site. If I offer outside of fiverr, people who don't know fiverr will go with me instead of someone else.

Yeah I'm aware you can create a gig asking for a tip and offer extras on the gig. I seen some people did that. But for someone like me, I don't think it will work for me. But it works for you then keep at it.

umh, $5 is still money, right since it is really hard to find a job right now, if i don't have a job, i will work to earn $5, why not? we need money for living, even with a small amount, we can buy food.

But the main problem is the competition is really high on fiverr and there are rules. I think you'll be better offering the service elsewhere for $5 and less rules to deal with.

I would also like to add that if you think your time is worth $5 then go ahead. People actually would pay more if you offer quality because people want quality instead of cheap. I know we all need money for a living. But there are other ways to make your time worth more.

Being paid $5,even if it is whittled down to $3 is a decent sum of money for half an hour's work in my country. And the websites that pay for writing articles pay lesser than that.I am game for that kind of money!

Then go ahead. No one is stopping you. Just make an account in fiverr then start several gigs. But remember, the competition is high. And it also takes a while to even get customers.

Hi friend, most of the sites are in this sort, they are taking some fee for our tasks as well as paypal will take a fee for the transaction, it is really hard to get the full amount for our work. But still we can give a quality work for the amount and if our work is good, we will get more orders and happy with it.

I think you should "screen" the applicants more to get your money's worth. Yep, you are right in some countries $5 is morethan enough for a day's work but that doesnt mean they should work less.

I've heard of this site before, but I've never used it before. The only way I could see myself working for this site is if the jobs didn't require a lot of time to finish. At $5, I would expect most jobs to be 30 minutes or under. Then again, I guess if you're able to do a large amount of work, then I suppose it all adds up. Not sure if it's worth it though. I guess it depends on the person.

i have 2 jobs posted on there :) one is a photo retouch and the other is a fantacy picture. I dont mind someone paying me just 5 dollars for either one because lets face it it doesnt take long at all. Yes it will if i take my time but since im getting pretty good at the retouching and the fantacys it doesnt take long at all. just depends on what it is that they want to do. So far i havent had any clients yet thou :/
