WHOA! Is there a typhoon sequel?

typhoon - it is raining again
Philippines

I listened to the news earlier and the news said that the typhoon already went away and stuff like that. Today was actually pretty sunny and there was little or no rain. But now, it suddenly poured so hard in my area. What is the big deal? Is there a typhoon sequel or something?

nope it's not a typhoon sequel, it has got to do with "habagat" or southwest monsoon, a naturally occurring phenomenon that visits most parts of Asia this time of year. Yes and there are factors like low pressures areas (lpa) and inter tropical convergence zones (itcz) or doldrums, that play a part like sucking or repelling one another to form typhoons and forming new ones this time of year. I had been alive long enough living in the Philippines to know all these, it's been the same year in and year out but seems to differ a little bit now probably because of climate change so we still have typhoons even as late as October and November or a rainy Christmas that never occurred when I was a kid.

when it is hot, people pray for rain, when it rains people pray that it would stop, so which is which? Maybe depends where you are in the Philippines, especially in flood prone areas. Don't you want to enjoy the rain?

Usually it may be like the tail end of the typhoon that causes this rain to continue pouring. So unless the weather stations declare there is a new one then no one can tell for sure. Sometimes rains can be cause locally by the existing environmental factors that can really influence the weather in your place.

Sounds like you are all weathered out.A bit like that in England it is hot at the moment for a few days.Up till now it has rained constantly for months.Thunder and lightening like we have never seen before.Flooded homes, farms ect ,In the end you just accept it like it is normal. It is a real pain supposed to be our summer, never mind.

Welcome to the monsoon season. The weather is and forever will be unpredictable. Play it safe by bringing your rain gear everyday. Better safe then sorry.
