to check out what they had. They had a beginning crotchet DVD. So I bought that. It was great. I'm making lots of mistakes and probably getting bad habits because there is no one there to correct me, but I'm only making dishclothes for myself and that's all I really want it for right now. So my square and rectangular dishclothes aren't perfict, but they're functional.
I acidently made doll hats trying to make a round dishcloth. They're cute and we'll probably give them to my husband's relatives who have kids. Round dishclothers weren't part of the instructions, so I decided just to wing it. Mostly square and rectangular objects on that DVD.
So have you learned any new crafts lately? Have you watched any craft DVDs, videos, or youtube, etc with crafts? Do you make errors, but it's good enough for what you're doing? Have you ever made any mistakes that came out cute?

Don't worry about "bad" habits. Sometimes, doing things the "wrong" way works the best. Charlie Daniels springs to mind; he holds the fiddle and bow "wrong," but he is a great fiddle player.
The doll hats sound cute. The kids should love them.
I haven't done as much crafting as I'd like, and I definitely haven't done anything recently despite collecting the materials to do so. I just have a couple things I need to go pick up, but I keep getting distracted by pesky things. *Sigh*

I liked the book I had because it explained and illustrated everything about three different ways, not some stuffy "do it this way or else you are wrong". I hope to be going crazy doing something soon, I just need to settle down and decide what. I have my fingers into too many things.

I had my husband make me a weaving frame and didn't use it for a year. Then suddenly, I went crazy weaving and weaving and weaving.

Oooh, how much was it? I may look into getting it we have a Jo Ann's here as well, and they may have it.
I do wish I could pick up crocheting again. I would love to make granny squares. In any case, my story is of a crochet kit. My grandmother bought me a crochet kit years and years ago and I picked it up a few years ago and started making stuff with it. It had several things. A tobagan, a bag, and one other thing. I made the bag. Well the bag was made alright, I messed up on a few stitches and by that I mean did one more row of single crochet then I should have, or one more row of Double crochet, but it came out cute nonetheless.

I really need to learn to knit. I have lots of the knitting looms and some knitting needles as well. Only so many hours in a day.

Lots of videotapes online for the knitting looms. Check them out. You'll be doing it in no time.

I love to crochet. It is a quick past time and many times for me a great stress reliever as well. I personally find the more times I crochet something the better I seem to get. I many times find myself not using a patter. Sometimes it turns out while other times it does not. I have been known to sell my items online like in Etsy.com and Facebook as well as various shows etc around here. I also find the stuff I make to be nice gifts as well.

I tried to respond to this days ago, but everything went wrong, so I had to give up.
Maybe some day it will be quick for me. It isn't right now.
I think anything that makes a good gift is great!
Good for you for being able to sell things online. Take care.

Hey you guys...make sure you go to Joann's craft store web site...joanne.com or soemthing like t hat...and join their newsletter and you will get 40%/50% off regular priced items coupons and often a 25% off total purchase. Ask at your store, but at mine...they will take as many coupons as you have on the same transaction...as long as the scan/UPC codes are different on each coupon. Also, they take Michaels Craft store coupons too...join there and get theirs. I have a stack of 5 right now that I intend to use next Thursday when I go. I use them on regular priced fabric as I quilt...kind of neat to be able to get $10 a yard fabric, for $5! I usually buy 2 yards of whatever I choose...just to make sure I have enough for when I figure out what to use it on.
I also stock up with the coupons on things like replacement cutter blades, notions etc. These coupons are good on all craft mediums.
I have not learned any new crafts...back in the day I did SO MANY crafts...all the time and now I am just not that much into crafting anymore so at the moment I am just quilting, I might start Scrapbooking again in the future, but for now...I am fine with quilting.

I can only go to Joann's Fabrics about once every few months. The closest one is very far away. The weather and roads between here and there are terrible much of the year. I'll go to the website, but ikt will just make me wish I could go more often.
Thanks and I'm sure the next time I'll have a coupon. I hope other people live closer and have more $ for it.

Hmmmmm. I cannot remember worth a darn to tell you about my errors. I do better with written instructions than with videos and I borrowed an awesome book about crochet from the Library. I liked it so well that I bought a copy. If I was not so lazy I would run upstairs and find the title. I got it on Amazon. To make the round lay flat you have to increase in every round, I know that. Or you can make a flat circle and then keep the same size and end up with a crocheted Koozy for a water bottle. I make heart shaped dishcloths that I give as gifts and I have some other neat ideas to implement as well. If I just would stay off the computer. The things I want to learn are broomstick lace and hair pin lace. Those are both types of crochet. I have downloaded instructions. I even have instructions for making reusable swiffer bonnets for your mops. I think those would be awesome, if I liked using swiffers.

Books don't work for me for crafts. Even the DVDs I have to watch again and again. For crochet, I couldn't even do it like they were holding the needle, even when I had someone show me and even when I've seen it in a book. So I did it completely different and it worked out.
