Is 3hours sleep really enough for you?

I once read a quote from a famous man in which he said that three hours sleep in a day is enough for a normal human. My case is not that i would not want to sleep more than 3hours, but i found that i cant sleep more than three hours everyday. Even if i lay down on the bed trying to fall asleep, the sleep always will never come until it is around 1a.m in the morning, and once it is 4a.m i'll wake up and cannot sleep again till 1a.m the next morning. The funny part is that there's no way i can feel sleepy during the day. If that's a disorder, i'm yet to find out from my physician. What do you suggest friends?

Actually what I hears from some health experts were we need to sleep around eight hours a day. three hours is too less which will definitely affect your health in a long term basis. If you have trouble falling asleep, you can always try to do something that you make you feel tired or sleepy. For example, reading books or doing exercises. Try them before you go for sleeping pills as they may harm your body.

Thanks friends. Your suggestions are dully noted. I appreciate you all. @Squallming, i find that reading helps a lot. In fact, i fall asleep within 20mins of reading at night, but not in the day time. I'll apply all the other suggestions and if they dont work out, i'll go see a physician.

I think everybody's body is different. I think that some people can sleep on 3 hours and be really good, others need 8 hours and still others don't really feel rested unless they get 10 or more. You have to determine how your body feels and if you are not tired and can function the way you need or want to on 3 hours of sleep a night and you don't feel like there is a physical reason why you can't sleep longer then, it's good for you. If however, you don't feel well, you're tired all the time or depressed, or if you can't function, they you might want to figure out how you can sleep longer.

Hi, maybe your body can tolerate much sleep at little as 3 hours or so, Me, I sometimes sleep for about 20 minutes and I feel that its okay already, if your thinking of going to the doctor, I think you need first to observe yourself, if it happen for a very long time, and there is a sudden uneasy that you feel, I guess you need to consult to the doctor about it,.

I find it interesting that you are not tired or sleepy throughout the day, even though you only sleep 3 hours every night. This doesn't seem normal to me; when I sleep 3 hours a day, I struggle to stay up and find myself seeking the help of caffeine. I think it's a good idea to ask a doctor about what's happening. Maybe try exercising or moving around before you sleep, to tire out your system somewhat.

It could be that you're not doing enough activity over the course of the day so that you're worn out at night, or it could be a sleeping disorder. It might be a good idea to go see a doctor, who can better help - at the very least, you'll hopefully find a reason to your sleep problems there.

i am quite the opposite i feel as though i need to sleep most of the time, though i usually cant and even after i sleep i feel tired and worn out through out the day. you should see someone about this definitely. i take melatonin which helps its a natural product to help you sleep you can ask a doctor or pharmacist. but i do think 3hours isnt enough for you to live on, and even if it works now eventually it may catch up to you that you arent rested.

good thing to go and see a doctor. in the interim, you could try melatonin which is just added to the amount that your body naturally produces. i generally comes in pill form.
