Maybe I am not qualifying for helping my friend to fix her laptop computer while there is a huge problem with the internet connection. Previously, she had problem with the ethernet port for establishing connection with AT&T. Then she try to use Clear wireless, which strictly got connection through USB port. After she ordered that USB modem device, she followed the instruction from the attached manual, and installed the device manager and the device driver, then stick in the USB modem, but still, the message showing "No device detected". I also has Clear Wireless service, and I connected the USB modem that I have to her laptop computer, it pops up the connection signal immediately. And instantly, her laptop got internet connection through my USB modem device. Then I suspected that Clear sent her a defective modem. I try to stick in her USB modem, surprisingly, it works perfectly fine with my laptop computer though. Now, the only problem is that her new USB modem only not compatible with her laptop, but my USB modem perfectly okay with her laptop computer though. That really scratch my head for the thinking. Does anyone know why?

If the USB port is unavailable for another USB storage or USB mouse.I am pretty sure the port is damaged. How about change another USB port after reboot? good luck

you need to try again her usb modem with her laptop, sometimes computers are weird. i suspect the laptop's usb plug is somehow damage and when you inserted you own usb modem it fitted just right. when a computer says no device detected then its not connected.

I guess it is complicated to make modems that are compatible with every laptop and make every laptop compatible with every modem. Maybe she just got a laptop that is not compatible with that kind of modem that she got. Maybe the operating system working with 64 bit has problem , maybe something was not configured right... Maybe the modem she got was broken. Maybe she needed to call the internet supplier and ask for a technical help to start a connection. In my country , you just call the technical support , they can fix many problems from far. They can send a technician to check the infrastructure and all and fix them.
