Citizens in here plant many vegetable types everywhere they can... to save money since vegetable prices are more expensive day by day. Many people plant vegetable in some sponge boxes and put it in balcony or in the top floor. Some just plant in an empty area that is near a road or street...i can see planted vegetables anywhere in this city... I do the same...to save money. Currently I have 3 sponge boxes in the balcony and vegetables are growing greenly.

I don't think it is that practical to plant my own vegetable just because the price in the market is expensive, unless i do have a garden of few acres that can supply me with vegetable year round or few months whenever i want to eat them. By your method, i think they probably can only serve you three meals for couple of days growing your on vegetable in the balcony, it may save you two or three dollars compare to buying from the farmer market. hehehe.....As long as the market price for vegetable is not going out of whack and remain extremely expensive for the whole year, i still prefer to buy from the market planted by the farmers instead of planting them myself. After all, i rather do somethings with my limited time that i was trained to do or more than qualify to do in my type of work than spending my time planting vegetable just because it can save few dollars a month, i just leave it for the professional farmer to do and pay them for their produced. Our farmers also need to live just like everyone else, if no one buy their produced, then they will have problem.

Oh, you may not know in here...even i buy clean vegetable in supermarket...but i still doubt it maybe not clean... It is really hard to get clean vegetable in here since farmers use a lot toxic chemicals on it...that's why i want to plant myself to get clean vegetable...in fact i don't spend much time on it..a some minutes to pour water on it in the morning only. I like to eat fresh tomato so much..but i don't dare to buy it in market and then eat it in raw...All my habit to eat raw vegetable in Korea i have to give up all, i try to buy a root, fruit types, not leaves type...

No kidding, your country's farmers used a lot of toxic chemical in getting their vegetables and plants grown, or becoming greener and bigger without concern about local consumers safety??? If that's the case, it is really bad, then i don't blame you wanting to plant your own, i will do the same too even it means i have to spend whole day to do it, it is troublesome but still is better than getting poison into my stomach. hehehe.. So your government has no control what sort of chemical they use in their farms and garden, the farmers can practically use whatever types of toxic fertilizer, pesticide and herbicide to grow plants and vegetables with intention to kill all the Vietnamese vegetarians, or they just don't know those chemical are dangerous to human health after consumption. May be they learn it from the Communist Chinese to make money with all means available in their hand without the need to consider other people health and safety. hehehe......

Planting vegetables for our own consumption is a good idea. More people should be encouraged to do this as there are many benefits in the health and economics sense. However, I think the reason most people do not do it is due to lack of knowledge as most people are unaware that it is not difficult to grow vegetables at home. They should get themselves educated and start on a small scale with a kit. Once they are successful they can then embark on a bigger scale and get immense satisfaction from growing vegetables at home. Have a nice day.

People don't know that things like that can help save money. You can also plant a mango tree in your backyard. We have one in our own. We have malunggay in our backyard which is a healthy green vegetable.

hey i second your thought. We can use our garden or backyard barren land to grow and cultivate different fruits and vegetables and thereby escape the scourge of price hike of vegetables and fruits. This can be done by everyone and every other person should be encouraged to do this.

We do too depending on the season. We have fig, lemon, apricot and persimons trees in our backyard. We have planted tomatos, lettuce and beans before. Last summer I planted cucumbers. I like growing my own because I know that it is fresh and nothing added to them either. I know what I'm eating basically

Yes we save money by planting vegetables in our gardens. Now a days living in flats or small apartments makes it difficult for plantations. We have a garden so I had tried planting green leafy vegetables there and certainly got a good quality of vegetables grown to be used. Also I have few of my friends who live in apartments and have grown fruit trees like papaya in their their balcony. I had good experience growing vegetables in garden and am planning to do the same currently also.

We do plant fruit fruit in our balcony, but not the vegetables. It seems that vegetables are not expensive. Since we don't have too much land for the vegetable, it could be more economic to buy rather than plant it ourselves. We plant fruit is for fun, particularly when I have a baby. I would take him to the balcony to enjoy the fruit I planted. Nowadays the fruit we planted is the ginseng fruit and grape and some of the cultured plant in pot.Every time we go to the balcony to see if any surprise there. The feeling is good when you see the fruit is becoming bigger and bigger.

You can really save money by planting instead of buying those vegetables in the market. You are so resourceful in planting some of those. We have a vegetables garden in my home town that continues to exist until now. I usually helped my father do some weeding and giving water to our plants. We can really save some because of those. We can be healthy too. Thanks

Yes now the vegetable is very expensive these days, but due to my small balcony,I can not put more than two boxes on it,feel sad about that, but actually planting vegetables in these ways in limited I think, but may be we should figure out a better method to resist the high prices,I think if we join together there must are methods to deal with it such as we can rent some farmland and employ people to plant,if people join together, the power will be very bigger.

My balcony is still big enough for 3 boxes. I live alone then planted vegetable is enough for my eating. If you have a top floor, you can put vegetable boxes on there. Many families in here don't need to buy vegetable because they have enough area for planting...

It is very evident that the prices of vegetables are quite rising every now and then.Planting vegetables is a great solution to avoid the stress of budgetting our money in going to the market. Currently i'm living in the city so place to have a garden is difficult, however we used pots to graw tomatoes and eggplants. My mom is also trying to grow horse raddish plant.
