I am a slow worker on the computer

Ok , the situation is like this : I study "software quality assurance" and some of the subjects require us to use the computer programs like QC (to define and describe the steps of the tests we plan to do) , QTP (for automatic tests on application) ....
The thing is we can only work on the computers during the 3 hours given to us at the computer laboratory , we can't download the software to our personal computers. It requires license , money , registration and etc...
And when it comes to work on the computer , it takes me time to translate the theory to the actual work : I need to remember how they teach us and what the lecturer did during the lecture , those things are hard to document , you have to draw the screen on the notebook , and write what the teacher do , what he clicks on ...that's almost impossible to write and to remember what was done.
Then comes the hard part : we need to do the work and it takes me time to get started. I have to recall things , to organize my thoughts and then start working. The time runs fast and I make barely half of the work. The project schedule is not flexible , and I don't know what to do to work faster or be more ready for the next class. I'm being left behind in the schedule and I don't know what to do.
Any thought or tips you can share ? Maybe some ways to prepare myself for the class , maybe you know or had been in such situations...?

maybe read the work in advance, you might not understand everything before the lecture but it will help when you are going through the lecture, it will start to make sense.

Well , it is partially right , we do have the schedule and we know generally what we will do in every class , but , we don't get to know how and on what program. We just come and get the specific instructions (not specific enough though ).
It requires me to guess what we will do , and maybe be more ready.
I just hope things will start to make sense a lot before we have to work in real time.

I had similar problems where notes weren't provided by our lecturers and its costs more. I did two things most(which i suppose will help you too),
1. Try to record(Photos, videos, even voice rec - if others aren't acceptable)
2. Form a group and work it out for the 1st try and then clarify things/take notes which are as you say, harder to document. Try individually later on.
(If working together/taking pics during the class is prohibited, its better to clarify such doubts outside with friends/lecturers - if they are friendly)

You can always rely on tutoring; this could either be a simple group study with your classmates who know the subject well. And do a simulation of the computer tasks as well.
It’s best to clear your thoughts before doing the tasks, just plain and simple focus on the subject matter rather than over thinking how to perform it. You are tensed over the actual test, so by calming yourself it will help you feel not preoccupied.

Well, you are right, but, how exactly can I clean my thoughts ?
Do I make a meditation ? Do I imagine only nothing and close my eyes and make deep breath ? I had to try this 6 months ago.
I think the best thing was to just watch some videos at Youtube like guides and tutorials about how to use the software. It would help me better.
BTW, I'm not really into Software Quality Assurance now. I want to teach computer usage. Many people have low ability to understand and many others don't know how to use computers at all.

Thanks for your response,
Well not necessarily that you need to meditate to clear your mind off, you just need to focus on the lessons rather than thinking on other things... like how the test would run, how your scores will reflect, instead of thinking on such thoughts, concentrate on the lessons.
Tutorial videos are also good way to reference your self to in order that you can able to understand more clearly on the subject matter.

Many times when wanting to learn something new it is usually quite important to always remember what someone might be wanting to teach you. Especially in the case you presented here. It is so important to learn a technique that works best for you and then go from there. Often when you find new ways to make things happen to where you remember what you are supposed to know, that is a good thing. Hope you've been able to learn this by now.

You are right. Everyone has his natural way of thinking and some material is more natural for me than for others. I can make some analogy from the software to my house for example. If I remember how my house is, I can associate things from my house to things from the software and then I will remember where is everything and what to do with it.
By now, that specific software is not relevant for me, I'm not sure if I ever going to work in that area. I hope I will get accepted to teach computers.
