New to the wine hobby.

My husband's parents are wine aficionados. They love it, they have favorite wineries, like specific types, attend tastings, etc. It's rubbed off on me a little, but there is a vast world of wines out there, and I'm not really sure where to start. Over the weekend they were here and I purchased 2 bottles of wine on the recommendation of a friend who enjoys wine, a white (Riesling) and a red (Cabernet Sauvignon) to try to hit their tastes. They enjoyed the red, and I wasn't super fond of it, but I did like the white. I've never been to a tasting, and I'm interested in the thoughts of those that have well-developed palates about various wines and what they pair well with. Thanks in advance for your input! ~Mandy
