I still suggest that you get a Professional English teacher that will teach you the basics first. It is very important to learn the basics first, your foundation should be very stable , since you will be encountering a lot of difficult words and sentences in your course. Though joining online communities such as mylot is good because, we basically use English, these sites may only be considered as training ground but that doesn't teach you the very basic foundation and rules of the English language. Anyway, I heard that China has banned the use of facebook, and from your statement I guess it isn't just false information, but may I ask why facebook.com is banned from your country?

You are right my friend. I have seen many people's English language improving very well gradually over the time in this site. The more you participate in this site, the more your English will also improve along with learning things and improve your knowledge.

Hi xfxl221, Welcome to mylot. You can certainly improve your English by participating in discussions on topics of your interest. However, do not just read the discussions on mylot but feel free to explore other sites like BBC, CNN, etc where you'll be able to read and listen to good programmes conducted by native speakers. Study and learn from them. Then practise your written English in mylot discussions. Set a goal for yourself to see improvement on your English say after 3 months.
