I watch a horrible real incident on TV news channel. A 35 years old married men create a account in facebook and upload his dashing profile photo in facebook. And make lots of friends among those friends chat with a girl and she was started chatting with him. She dont know he is married and 35 years old. She feels he is a dashing boy. Since 6 months they were chatting one day he proposed her for marriage she is ready but parents not ready because they know without seeing a boy how can ready for marriage. They said lots of fake persons are in facebook but daughter is not understand. One day the news channel member create a account from girl name and also chat with him. The same thing he said same words he married to her. Then the news channel member doubt on him. They started enquiry and talk with him on facebook and tell him she want to meet you in a hotel. He is ready and when he reach there they caught him. After seeing men the girl shocked and she feel he cheated with her. Now she understand parents are right. He was saying whats wrong proposed for marriage yes I already married but want to marry again. How danger facebook lots of persons make fake profile. Girls should take care and dont feel anything without seeing a person only from chat. He talked her send some sexy photo and she send him her photo. How can a girl do this.

There's a lot of fake people on the net my dear sis. Even here in mylot there are scammers and only come here to post their ref link. We should be aware that internet is open to everyone- cheaters, good and stupid. So, it's not the site that we must blame...it's the people who are using the net. The original intention of internet is not to fool people and not to promote cheaters either.

surekha: yes. we hear about such incidents. parents should guide teen-agers not to post their photos in a manner others can download it. also whenever you come across a stranger online you have to talk after fully satisfying that there are no hidden intentions. Also points like marriage, love, etc. should not be discussed with stranger. you can discuss -- job, edcuation etc.

I'm not surprised, with such events. Things like that, very often the case. Always, the victim is a girl. We must always be alert to this. There are many, who use Facebook to something bad. I'm happy, she could be safe from scam people like him. God is still protecting her.

nice to see you too, Adhyz82. I hope everyone can understand the negative side, and the positive side of social networking sites. Thus, they are no longer a victim. Supervision of a parent, it is necessary, for users who are still children.

I just want to used facebook to be a good one promoting my site. But I experience trouble because of some friends that not thinking what they post there. I notice also that most of my friends in facebook didn't interested in making money online but interested in saying irrelevant words to other. This make me think that I need to stop using facebook and stop being online there daily as I did before.

But brother girls should take care and not trust on anybody only from their profile pic. She not seen him and ready to marry. This is the limit of stupidity. She impressed only from chatting way and his profile pic. But parents should aware about this type of cases so they are trying to save their daughter.

Girls should have their own limitations when it comes to them. I know a lot of teenagers does not listen to their parents and this is the result. At least one thing is for certain, this girl knows now her limitations and will be listening to her parents. That`s how teenagers learn nowadays, they are still going to wait for the moment where they will commit mistake and will be in pain. I just hope the girl is okay. What matter most is the lesson she learned through this experience

You are right friend girls should have their limitation and use their mind also. Not should hear only heart. Yes teenagers should heard to their parents because they have more experience of life than that.

I cant cay that parents know what is best. Maybe this quote is not always applicable but in this situation this is really true indeed. Love can be dangerous when we tend to do things that we cant do before like when we want to sacrifice just to love. Parents should still supervise their children when using internet especially when they are not yet in a legal age

Hi, This is one of the astonishing things I have read. I know many people chat over the internet and then ask each other out for dates but I have never heard of such an incident that a girl said yes to a marriage proposal without seeing the man in person. I think the girl could have landed in real trouble but she was lucky that the man got caught. Such deceivers are abounding on the internet. This is the reason why I have never gone into chat rooms since I have heard that a lot of people there mention their false age and give out false information. I never wanted to fall into the trap. I have been introduced to the internet at least 10 years ago but I was careful about such things from the beginning. But one of my friends has actually found a life partner through internet chat. Apparently they liked each other through regular chatting, then they started seeing each other and he is a doctor, and now both their parents have agreed to their marriage. Their relationship is of 6 years. At first when she told me this I was surprised. But I think she was lucky whereas most others have the chance of encountering deceitful people.

Hi, Man made a lots of beautiful things in the world with an intention for the goodness for all, and among them f/b is one of the best useful thing created by us. facebook is a nice productd for the common man and if someone uses its reliability to a valgour purpose, it is the person who did it is the responsible one and not fb. Also, there are millions of such incidents happening around every day, and there are are people exploiting more and more. It is the common people should be well aware about it and if this poor girl is trapped in such people's net, it's no one's mistake, it is only lack of knowledge and understanding. Any way, cheating is always a mistake and in whatever form. Hope he will be punished accordingly and we can expect all should utilise the resources properly and what is it meant for. Here is an example, why our good facilities are becoming a curse to us. I got a bank branch next to my office building and within 5 mts. time I can reach in the bank. But after the terror threat and incidents happening around, they closed all the gates except the main gate. Now the problem is that I have to walk all the way 15 mts. more to reach to the main gate. Earlier when they made the different enterence and gates, it was their intention for the goodness and convenience for the public and when people started exploiting our own convenience, they are forced to shut it. The loser is alwyas the comman man and only because of a single or a few people, the whole society is affected and got into trouble. Again, here in the main railway station, there are side-wise gates are there and we could have use them immediately afater getting out of the train. Now the railways closed all side gates and only opened the front and back side. The loss is we have to walk all the way for 5-10 mts. inside the staion. When it was opened, in 30 seconds we could have come out and only because of security reasons, the railways shut the gate. See the difference. We do something good for all and only because of some such devilish people, the whole people have to suffer. You can imagine what could be the morale of the facts...

Yes, it is made for a great purpose and that is why fb is so popular. Not just like we people, those who have their siblings, family members, friends who all are living in different countries, and various parts of the world can keep a great togetherness feeling though such community sites and as the importance increased, the system also become much familier. Now, there are some devils around to exploit all. Especially, in our country, many are joined only for such purposes and it is highly criticized. Even my daughter is in fb with more than 300 friends for the last 3 years and more. But even before listening my instructions, she taught me what all the problems may come in fb and where all we need to be taken care of. She never accept any friend request unless she is not known to her. Also, she never get into any kind of false activities and she got a nice group of friends and they using it rightly. So, what I feel, we need to use the bright side of it and it is a real fact that everything has a dark and ugly face, but we need to ignore what we don't want and accept onlyu what we really needed.

The girl is so young and she did not understand what she was doing. In our country a girl of 15 can not marry yet because the marrying age for both male and female is 18. Parents should supervise their children below 18 years and even over 18 they still need parents' guidance. Even girls of majority age should take good care of befriending in any social networks. It might lead to their downfall. We just hope that people should learn to think many times before doing something.

Certainly, that's one of the dark sides of social networking. However, I stongly feel that if someone is out to make people fool, he/she would manage to find ways to fulfill his/her henious desires. Putting up fake profile photos, wrong information and concealling real agae are just some of the tricks used by a group people with a skewed mentality. Condemning such behaviour, I strongly feel that every one should follow certain rules to avoid embarassing situations like the girl faced. Precaution is a very important word in the era of cybering. So be careful. And parents should warn their children about possible danger that social sites may pose. Only a cautious approach can be helpful in averting unwanted situation.
• India
25 Jul 12
Yes precaution is very important no one should trust on anybody without seeing them or only on chatting way. They should check full profile but most of the profile photo is also fake. So dont take the dicession of marriage with anybody from social networking site without family members help because they can make inquiry.

There a lot of cases like this. There is a show in the crime suspense channel about online dating. A lot of girls were tricked by older men. Some of these old men put pictures of seventeen year olds and they pose as these kids. It is sad that there are a lot of girls that fall for this. A lot of these girls got raped or even murdered. It is really sad. So, I advice that girls should not really talk to strangers on facebook or add them. It might lead to danger.

Yes you are right some old men shows their pictures like young age boy and girls impressed from it. I cant understand why girl impressed only due to pic why not inquire more things about him. This is really danger.

Friend surprising is this how can send a girl photos of her without seeing a person. How she is ready to marry with him without seeing her. She dont know anything about him only after seeing dashing photo of him she impressed. This is stupid act. You are right lots of children making account I think facebook should ask the uploadd entity proof like election card or adhar card or license anything.

These people that create these accounts and solicit young girls are child predators. They will stop at nothing to get one of these children. They do abuse and rape these children. And thats a shame. The parents should be more involved with their children's online activities. I am not saying they should be banned from the internet, but monitored. And thats why parents are so important in a child's life. We are to be there to guide them and help them make the right and smart decision.

That was really terrible case to go through. But I find that girl totally senseless. How can a teenage girl be so out of mind. Chatting is considered but the fact that she agreed to his proposal is simple foolish. I do not think we need parents on this stage, you must be thoughtful enough to investigate over the case and block that person or even go to police for higher issues
• India
25 Jul 12
Yes I also feel she was foolish and her act was stupid to send her photos to him. How can agree from his proposal without knowing anything or seeing him.
