most of the people do not provide very basic information like country, gender, age etc. it becomes very difficult to know about them through their profile. why do they hide such a basic things? do you think that mylot should make it mandatory to provide all necessary fields?

myLot is a place where we come away from the real world, where we do not have to share such information. Nobody should be forced to share this. There may be reasons why people do not wish to share their personal details. I think that, if someone wants you to find out about them, they will tell you. Sometimes they don't want people to find out about them just by looking at a profile. That's why they don't put on a lot of information.
However, in some of the discussions, it might help to have certain information in order to be able to give appropriate and accurate advice. For example, if someone is looking for legal advice, it would be necessary to know their country of residence because it will be different in different places. Whereas, if someone is asking a general question about relationships or something, the answer will be based on an opinion so doesn't really matter about that. Although they might need to state their gender and, possibly, their age.
Like I said, people don't want to give out that sort of information on this site. I think it would put a lot of people off coming here if it was mandatory.

I feel that it is up to the person if they want to share things like that and is pleased that people do not have to show things that they do not want to.
I feel that by reading what people are discussing we get to know about people better, rather than just to see where they come from and how old they are.
Just like we all have the choice if we want or do not want to add people as friends on here.

Hello, no I don't think we have to be forced to provide such information.
You can understand better a person just reading few of his posts in general discussions. That's my opinion. The age is not that important, because people face different things on different ages and the number doesn't show you anything in my opinion.
Yes I would love to know which is the country someone lives in, but I don't need so much information about it. If this person wants to, he/she would share in some discussion.
I myself am following the discussions of some people. Always when I see a nickname, I am sure that I will have something to say at least to few of the discussions posted by the nickname. So I read carefully and it gives me a great view of the personality, much more information than I can read in his/her profile information.
