A Healthy Reminder for my Fellow Myloters

I am sure all of us here in Mylot do our best in order to earn as much as possible online. Because of this, we spend long hours in front of our computers. Though allocating most of our time in our online tasks helps us financially, this can also be a negative factor for our health. Like what happened to me. I have now what you call the Carpal Tunnel Syndrome which is a condition brought on by increased in pressure in the median nerve of the hand. This is usually got from the excessive usage of the computer mouse. So I am here to remind you fellow Myloters to stretch your hand every 30 minutes while you are using the computer. This would improve the circulation of blood in your hands and prevent you from acquiring Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Let's keep earning while staying healthy. Good luck! :)

I really experience this kind of pain on my hands and shoulder. One reasons perhaps is being in front of computer most of the time. Thank you for reminding us about this.

This is a good reminder that we are not just devices plugged into the usb port but human beings with bodies and this something good to think about. We might need a distraction. Computer can be very absorbing. Tip: This tip might seem odd but if you think about it, well it works for me. Pick a song you really like and listen to it. If you are like me after a while you can’t help tapping your foot and before you know it, you will be dancing waving your hands in the air and pretending you are the next idol star or something. Of course if you get too active you might end up pulling your headset off your head. Not recommended if someone can see you being a dancing fool. Another thing is to read a very rude comment. You might want to stand up and wave your finger around at the screen and pretend that you are angry with the computer but this is not always recommended because you might actually get angry which is not always good for your metabolism. If you do, go for a run or stomp your feet like you are taking a fit. Then take a shower. Happy mylotting

I am sorry to hear about you suffering from this syndrome. Computer is very absorbing where one can not make out the time that flies and most of the time I go, " oh it this time now?" So anything in excessive is not good and has adverse reaction or effect. What I do is, I get up every hour or even before to do my house work. Like cooking, sweeping and other household work and my personal work. I went and made tea for just now. So like this I am moving around as well and doing my work online. I need to stay fit. These days i was gaining weight because of eating junk and constipation. but I have started moving a lot nowadays. Thanks for sharing your opinion. have a good day mylotting.

I never knew being angry could trouble your own metabolism. if that is teh case I will do my best to cool down a bit. i never knew how dangerous it is until now.well, I am glad I've always learned to keep my cool because I know it's ugly to be mad and angry so that's why am doing my best to be patient. thanks to your advice. have a nice day

Although the internet is very good for earning money and staying in touch with people whenever you wish to, you are quite right when you say that there is a problem with the health of individuals if they choose to sit online for the whole of the day without taking the time to do any exercise. Whenever I am working, I make sure that I take at least ten minutes out of every hour to do some exercise. I don't want to be unhealthy, but at the same time I know that I have to do the work or I wouldn't have any money to pay my bills with.

Good for you if you set up that kind of routine. Thank you for pointing that out. What I said in my discussion is only about stretching our hands. I forgot to mention that we should stretch our body as well. Especially our backs and necks since these two supports our whole body when we are sitting in front of a computer.

Hi, I would first of all like to thank you for this post. Actually I have got a raised bone in my right hand which is not too serious but still harder and raised compared to my left hand's bone at the same location. This has happened due to too much use of the internet over all the years that I have been earning online or surfing the net. At one point of time, it had got pretty bad and painful specially after I had to write my examinations for four hours at a stretch each exam day for two weeks with gaps in between. I got medications from the doctor and he even bandaged it. Gradually it subsided. Now the pain is no longer there but the raised portion exists. I have noticed that if I raise my hand while writing and typing on the keyboard instead of having too much contact with the mouse or keyboard, in few days the swelling subsides. So I am trying to do that as much as possible. I am sorry to hear of the problem you have got now. I really hope you can overcome it with the help of proper medications and medical supervision. The idea of stretching our hand every 30 minutes is extremely helpful and I will do just that since I read this discussion here. Definitely we should strive to remain healthy while earning.

This is a good reminder, but I think it is important to note that Carpal Tunnel Syndrome can be caused by any repetitive motion ... for example a painter, mechanic, carpenter, typist, etc. It is important to do our best to try to stay healthy, and getting up to move around at least once an hour for a couple of minutes is a good thing if you are able to do it, because it does increase blood flow and can help to reduce your risks of many health related problems.

Thank you for that additional information purpplealabaster. :) We do need to do our best to stay healthy because I am sure a large part of our earnings would go down the drain if we caught some serious illness. Obesity, for example, is also rampant nowadays and spending too much time in front of a computer may be a contributing factor to that. PS: I hope you do not mind if I do not respond right away with your posts. I am trying to stay away from the computer as much as possible. Thank you. :)

I do understand trying to stay away from the computer, especially now while the weather is nice and it is much easier to be outside all day enjoying the weather and doing other things. I might not be able to respond right away to things, either, so I definitely understand. I do think that spending too much time in front of the computer or the television or video games is a contributing factor to obesity these days. This is getting to be a major problem with children as well. Children are by nature generally very active, but it seems that they are spending way too much time being sedentary, and that is not only catching up with them in terms of extra pounds but also creating a bad foundation for the rest of their lives.

You are right.Working on computer for a long time has adverse effect on our eyes and muscles of our hands.I do Mylot continuously at least for a couple of hours everyday. To avoid any adverse effect on my eyes and hands I keep blinking or shutting my eyes from time to time and stretch my hands. That relaxes me.Often I get up from my chair and move about for some time and then resume doing Mylot.

That is a good point. Computers can also damage our eyes if we use it excessively. Shutting your eyes once in a while is a good advice. Another tip is we should not use the computer with the lights turned off. My cousin usually surf with her laptop at night with the lights off. A few months later she got astigmatism which she says is annoying because her head aches often. Now she already wear glasses.

yes. it is a useful piece of information. I understand when we do more of driving, writing, typing, games etc. using our hands we get this problem on account of swelling of nerves. I normally open and close my hands imagining pressing rubber balls. true we must take a break whenever possible. this piece of advice is important for software company employees.
