I have just learned that brown bats eat a thousand of mosquitoes. I hate mosquitoes and there are many mosquitoes here in my country most especially on rainy days. Mosquitoes are dangerous and it cause deadly diseases like Malaria and Dengue. I am really scared of mosquitoes. So, I put mosquitoe repellent sometimes and I always see to it that my room is free from mosquitoes. I have so many mosquitoe bites before and it doesnt' look good on my skin. lol Do you think it's a good idea of having a brown bat at home as a pet?? hahaha.. My friends hate mosquitoes and they hate bats too. Probably if I do that, they might hate me too. LOL! Just kidding... Happy mylotting!

Oh! Mosquitos.. Damn thing I ever hate! If I get a brown bat, I will always keep it for my house, whatever consequences it has. I think bats move around at night and how they can eat 100s of mosquitos if they are flying and I just can't believe or understand if they does, how it could be? But it is a nice idea. However, if we plant to have a bat at home, it may get scared and if get a chance, it will run away at any moment and won't be keen to eat the mosquitos, as the space may be limited like a room and they won't get a satisfactory place to hang down. I think this bat can see so visibly at day time and can see things at night. Whatever it is, you can have a try and let us know what is your experience! Call your friend also for a help!

I don't think having bats as your pet in order to get rid of the mosquitoes is a good idea. Here, the same problem as well. I don't know how to handle it anymore. But it seems getting less and less. I just spray the house every morning and evening and make sure you close every open containers.(^^)

I didn't know that about the bats. I don't blame you for not liking mosquitoes they are pests! We have them here and in the summer I can't go out without getting bit at least 1 time if it's just for 1 minute. My brother has a bucket filled with water here that I try to empty as they love breeding in water. I can't lift it now after my surgery but I hate the fact he encourages them to breed. It is just downright obnoxious. He says he uses the larvae for his fish and he doesn't get bit so he doesn't care that they bite others. So selfish. I doubt I would get a bat though for a pet, it's just not too practical, they can become rapid and they are just naturally better off kept outdoors anyways. I wish you the best of luck with those skeeters, and hope they don't bring in any diseases.Luckily I have not been bitten indoors, they are not that rampant. I dumped a vase of water in time on the porch that had some skeeter larvae in it just in time before they turned into the actual mosquitoes, I must have brought that in from outside accidentally one day.

Heck no!! Do not consider having a 'living' bat of any kind as a pet. I am happy that these kinds of bats are assisting in the control of mosquito infestation. I hope that nobody attempts to interfere with the bat population, as trying to domesticate these animals may may add some unknown strain of diseases to the human population. Also, try not to interfere with the habitat of these creatures, as the serve a vital part of the 'established' food chain.

haha! I will buy a brown bat if it really eats up all the mosquitoes in my room. Hmm, what if the bat bites me too? I might become a vampire hahaha

Hahaha.. maybe you'll give it a try for you to see its effectiveness. But one thing for sure to get rid of those diseases is to make sure that unused cans or bottles should be kept empty to prevent from being a breeding place for mosquitoes.
