Coming on the back of the wettest June and July in recent times, do you think rains will play a spoilsport during the London Olympics? I hope that the rain gods stay away and we have a highly competitive and fantastic games to watch. Cheers! Ram

They said there is ONLY 30 percent chance of rain - They said there is ONLY 30 percent chance of rain on Friday....
It is supposed to be a SUMMER Olympics. But the weather in London does not care. To be fair, nobody informed them anyway, so they can not be blamed. But London is not just any city. The Englishmen know how to organize an event, although there are reports about their shortfall in security arrangements. But rain is the least of their many concerns I am sure. A good news: They said there is ONLY 30 percent chance of rain on Friday....

:) I like that Only 30 percent chance of rain. Probably you would want to add some more fun. These statistics have a margin of error of 70%. :) Cheers! Ram

Though the day was a bit gloomy, the rain gods stayed away from the Opening Ceremony. And it was an excellent ceremony as well. So, so far so good. Cheers! Ram

I think it could play advantage to some athletes, for example those from GBR will be used to training in our rubbish conditions compared to those where the weather is a lot nicer :P Also i was watching the BMXing today and if they had to ride in the rain i'd dread to think what would happen!

But this is also being given as a reason why there are not too many world records being broken during the Athletics event. But, of course, it would play to the advantage of the British athletes. Probably that is one reason for their mega success in this Olympics. Cheers! Ram

Yes, it is England. And in the good old days the identification of an Englishman used to be his umbrella and a newspaper. :) Cheers! Ram

Send the rain to the states, most of the USA is having a drought and could use the rain for sure. In my area, we have had the hottest June on record and it looks like July will be doing the same thing. I hope for the sake of the athletes the rain doesn't create a disaster. They work so hard to get to be there, that rain can cause big problems for them. Especially the runners who take the chance of slipping in the rain and getting a major injury. I'm looking forward to view the events on the television. At least many of the events are not outside in the weather. Thanks for the discussion.

Yes, all the hard work over the years for a few seconds/minutes of fame. So hopefully rain keeps itself away. BTW, even here in Bangalore we are having a drought like situation and can do with some rains!! Cheers! Ram

Hey i too believe that the way Wimbledon was heavily perturbed due to erratic rains, there is a possibility of rains interfering in the Olympic sports especially the ones that are played outdoors. They need to have an arrangement in order to prevent rains spoiling the games midway. What say?

Of course, some of the indoor sports will continue unabated. But the outdoor sports could be hampered. But the good news is that there was some bright sun light last week. Cheers! Ram

Hmmm...yes that is certainly a thing everyone hopes for. We wait for these games for four long years and seeing it getting spoiled by rains will be a very sad thing to happen, to be simple. I hope if these are rainy months, London must have some arrangements for the same. They should try and conduct maximum of the games as planned. But I am not that disappointed considering that major interest of mine lies in indoor games.

Actually the summer starts at this point at London. But this year the rains have been really bad. So we just have to wait and watch. Cheers! Ram
