Why do people used to upload a false picture on their profile?

Normally safety and security why some are not uploading their real picture. Even here in mylot only few members are in real face to discuss because some with same reason and some I don't know their reasons. But this world have choice and own freedom to choose so this is no big deal because some are so thoughtful on their way to discussing here.. Facebook let see 4-5 years.

It's a matter of personal preference I guess and how comfortable are you in exposing your own photo to the public. However, I take offense on someone disguising as another person just to cover up their inferiority...

Hello gautam41, may be they are not interested to publish their photos in the internet. I have seen many people put their favorite film-stars as their profile picture .

I feel they like being over smart. It is a right thing to do on a site in which privacy is a question, but hiding their identity on facebook I think is being foolish. They must have a wrong impression of facebook. Facebook was constructed for being in contact with people you know, and hence hiding your identity is not advised. But youngsters use facebook mainly for talking to strangers and trying to apply their brains by not disclosing their identity.

I think some people don't have the guts to show there pictures of they won't be having a picture since they might not be having a camera. Just thinking about the possibilities. I don't know if there might be other reasons.

Yeah most of the facebook user are only posers, they uploaded a picture with a wrong person but pretending that they are the one on the pictures. I guess they do that because they hide their true identity or lack of confidence on their true faces. Some of the fan page its natural having a poser of a famous personality, I think they just need attention. We cant stop those people on keep posing for others, but to report them on facebook.

They can have many and different reasons for not uploading their own photos. It can be for security reason, or they just do not want other people to see their photos being a too private person, or they just want that only those who really know them personall could see their photos, or they are maybe afraid to upload their photos because they fear that someone would use it without her consent or for illegal activities. Like there are some users who use other people's photo for their own advantage. We all know that many people makes the internet as their stage to act. They play different roles, whatever they think is benificial to them. Or maybe there are some people who are not too confident on how they look. Maybe they think that if they aren't good looking, no one will like them to be their friend. I know that many people who uses internet makes this as their world which is different from their reality. If in real life, they are shy and timid, in the internet, they can be bold and fearless. There could many reasons so we really have to be careful and choose which information should we add because people would see that everywhere.
