How do I disable being notified of a friend's new discussion?

Hi there mylotters!
I have looked in "preferences" but cannot find where to disable being notified every time one of my friends start a discussion. These notifications are swamping my inbox because my friends are very very busy on mylot.
Do you perhaps know where to disable notifications by email for new friend topics?

I have this problem as well, also that I can not respond to lots of the friends that have started a discussion.I have gone through and turned off a lot of notifications as I have been to ill to respond to the discussions that have been started.I use to get over 100 emails just from this site and it got beyond a joke in the end, as there was no way I could answer all of those.
