i've been wanting to give my four year old daughter a pet and can't decide what to get her... something to nurture her a sense of responsibilty at a very young age...

Unless you have experience in pet rearing, it is better to get toys and make her play because she may get diseases from some animals also--otherwise best option is puppies.

the only pets that we've had before was a fish, and a pair of rabbits. now i am thinking of having a puppy for my little girl, one that belong to the small breed so it would be safer and easier to maintain. a puppy would be more interactive and can be trained. hamsters are cute, but i have no idea on how to take care of them. still open for other options though... ;)

hi 3honor! i am keeping my options open as of the moment. i am putting things into consideration. :) maybe you're right about the fish thing. lesser maintenance, and no danger of getting bitten. most of all it is more convenient and cheap! thanks for enlightening me. :)

nice. you are handling the discussion nicely. you were having fish and rabbit. if the child likes it then you can opt for one of these. ask the child what is it that you should buy for her. she may ask for a toy??
