Every subject teaches us something. But comparing with the practical life the education differs. When a person studied and enters in an oraganization the company says he is not employable skill. Why from schools to college this education lacks? Why it is not practical? If a person study about computer for 3 years as degree he studies lot of subjects during the 3 years but after finished the study only some subjects are updated and others are old one. What is the use of this old concept study.

Still serveral schools teaching cobol. They did not take java in their school. Lot of schools did not teach the current technologies. The only thing they are teaching the subject "C" that is only useful for the student to know about the programming language and how to develop it.

While receiving a formal education is good, courses often focus their teaching on the the theoretical side of your field and sometimes on the applied side. If you want more applied learning, you have to take the initiative to practice and teach yourself some new skills. Once you enter the workforce, you are usually expected to have some experience. Some people who enter the workforce can prove themselves with skills they taught themselves; somebody with a degree and little experience may be less qualified that someone with no degree and self-taught skills. Companies do not always care if you received formal education; if you have no marketable skills, they might not even consider you as a candidate for the job. Applied learning can be learned through internships, co-op programs, or some sort of job training programs.

It looks with education though, there aren't any real assurances in succeeding. When assessing the significance of an education, you can do all the calculations you want to. But no one really sees if it will go the way you want it to go. All you can do is work hard and see where it will get you in the future.

If you are saying that we should include more number of practical experiences in our courses, do not worry we are not that bad. At least we are on the up if nothing else. I am joining a college this year and when I am having as many as 4-5 opportunities to go to some practice schools in my graduation. I also came to know from friends that students as well as companies are focusing more on practicality than mere bookish knowledge.
