Is There Anyway To Make The Buyer Pay For Shipping?

This is in my opinion one of the dumbest questions I have ever asked. I'm new to the whole Ebay website and was wondering if there was a way to ship it without paying the initial fee of USPS shipping? I know it sounds really dumb but the item is extremely heavy and I can't exactly pay for it to be shipped right now. SO is there a different solution to this? PLEASE let me know.

Not if it's heavy no. Many offer free shipping on very light items such as jewelry. Heavy items actually are the hardest to sell because of the shipping cost. So say you are selling an item at 20lbs you would weigh it before you put the item on, then figure out what would be the least costly way to ship it.
You will also need to pay for delivery confirmation because if they say they didn't get it you are essentially screwed. Paypal will give them their money back and you will be out the item AND the shipping, listing fee, final value fee, packaging fee and any other cost.

Oh sorry, what I meant to say is that you cannot ship it WITHOUT first paying the fee FIRST. Like they don't do COD any longer. Which was in the old days, cash on delivery, they don't do that anymore.
Yes the buyer pays for shipping but someone needs to pay that fee up front for the post office to ship it. Oh, and I forgot about the pay pal fee, ha ha. Yep that's E bay, fees.

Hi,
What happened to COD anyway? I would prefer that kind of transaction. The way I see it, it is the seller that benefits most since the amount has been paid before the consumer get its item.
That was the old days of mail-order then, I wish it would be back.

For the Ebay sales, before you upload your items and sell, you should put the shipping charge options to your buyers first, this can be seem and handle in Ebay turbo, you should make this clearly first and then upload your item and start to sell,if you think the shipping fee is too heavy you should ask your buyers to pay for the shipping charge,if not they can not bid or buy it now,but if you forget to handle these shipping options I suggest that you should delete you list first and change it then upload again,if there are some buyers bid your items before this, you have to ship your items otherwise you will get negative feedback, this will be very harmful to your Ebay account.
But actually heavy items is not suitable for Ebay sales, for your reference, but if you just offer your items to local buyers, and that is OK.

You don't need turbo to list the shipping options. Turbo is usually used by people who sell a large number of items at once. It starts your auctions all at once or on a time you pick and will fill in information that you typed beforehand.
Yes sky I forgot, there is one other option. You can offer the item for pick up, thus eliminating the shipping. But this only works for local people who are willing to drive to you.

Being both a user of ebay and paypal, having recently bought an ebay item at auction, the shipping costs are factored by the seller into the price the buyer pays..and I paid in full on winning the auction..so is your problem not having the cash in hand to pay for sending the item? You just can't get at it when you need it?

I've been buying and selling on Ebay for years now. I'm not quite sure what you're talking about and even after reading your responses I'm still not sure. Maybe it's because I didn't have enough coffee yet, haha.
I don't know of any way you can ship something without paying for it first, and like you mentioned, there is no COD anymore.
If the buyer pays for the item and shipping too, why would you not have the money to ship it if they already paid for it? So that's why I'm confused on what you're talking about.
Someone has to pay for shipping before it's shipped, there is no getting around it that I'm aware of. Am I missing something here?
