I just love taking pictures and consider myself an amateur photographer. It seems like I've always had a camera of some sort. For awhile there I was without a regular camera and used my cell phone (technology what a wonderful thing, who would have ever thought we'd take pictures with a phone.)
Well I got a nice little digital camera from one of my sisters a couple of months ago, so I again started taking pictures of what ever I felt like. The nice thing about the digital age is we no longer have to worry about taking the film to be developed, dropping it off, then picking it up, wondering if the pictures came out or not. Now we can look at them and if we don't like it not only can we delete it and and retake the picture, we also have the option of photo shopping it, that is if we have photo shop (which I do not).
I never considered becoming a photographer for a living because then it wouldn't be much fun, I prefer to have it as a hobby, that way I have no deadlines and I can pick and choose what I want to take pictures of.
I have a photo blog that was started with family members and friends as an A-Z photo blog after we finished with the alphabet, I decided to keep my blog going just as a photo journal. I'm having a lot of fun with it and invite you to take a look and hopefully follow my blog for the latest photos.

That A-Z thing is pretty cool... so you just find something that starts with whatever that day's letter is? There's not a list of things you have to find? I can do that!!
I totally hear what you're saying about not wanting to be a professional photographer... There are some times when I think it would be cool, to be able to go outside the barriers into the press areas at concerts or go other places "normal" people aren't allowed to go during special events but then I feel like I wouldn't be able to enjoy what I was there for. Or I'd get too involved in enjoying and forget why I was there HAHA

With the A-Z photo blog we had one person pick 5 words beginning with the letter a for example and then the ones participating would find objects that pertained to that word and take a picture of it. We would have a week to find the five objects and post the pictures the end of the week. I started it late so I don't have the full alphabet. I got started with the letter E. It was a lot of fun, I may see if anyone would be interested in doing it again.
Here's the link to one of the post for the A-Z photo blog, hopefully that'll give you some ideals.
