do you think that a girl and a boy can be friends and nothing more?

Hello there. I think it could happen. Like a boy and a girl could only remain friends and then no more. If that's how they want to treat each other, it's okay. Just like me, I have my friends who are boys but we are only pure friends. There's no malice in our friendship. Maybe we consider each other special but only as friends. We care for each other as friends. On the other hand, there are also some instances that a boy and a girl who are friends could fall in love with each other. Or like what you have said, maybe one of them could fall. Maybe that's when one of them already developed a deeper feeling more than that of a friend. Maybe when someone is sweet in the friendship, the other one could really appreciate the sweetness or kindness that the other one is showing, he or she might really fall. I think it depends on people if they would be attracted with one of their friends or not. Though I think, it's also really possible that a girl and a boy would only consider each other as plain friends. Nothing more. Nothing less. They would only remain friends. That's just my opinion. :)

I do think it is possible as long as there is no attraction at all to each other. I have had friends that were guys but the feeling was mutual, we did not want anything more than just a friendship. If you establish that and maintain that, you can be friends. It also makes it easier if your both committed to other people...

I think it's very possible for them to just be friends but I agree one will probably feel lonely and confuse normal kindness from a friend for affection or some type of feelings and try to change the type of relationship they already have.
