do you think dogs can be counted as one of the family members?

Of course they are our family member. I can't imagine any other position in our family but a member with full rights.
They eat quality food - as well as we do, they benefit from the best medical care - like we do, they have dedicated time for resting and entertainment - as well as we, humans do.

I do love dogs, but I don't have one right now. We had to get ride of our dog several months ago when I first got pregnant again. I miss him so much but I know he is with a better person. We did treat him as family and still feel that he is family weather he is living with us or not. I wouldn't have given him to just anyone.

There was a good reason to why we couldn't keep him besides me be pregnant again. As much as we loved him he started to want to attack our daughter for no reason. She had never done a thing to him since the day she was born and as soon as she knew how to walk he got every aggressive with her so it was him or her I choice my child and when we choice to get ride of him I found out I was pregnant again at that time my daughter was 10 months old. We still get updates on how he is doing because he went to a friend of a co-work of my husband. Poodles are very much possessive.

We have three dogs as home and they were from when they were just born puppies. Actually their mother gave birth to them in our house only. Initially my family was against having a animal in house as pet, but as days passed everyone was so comfortable. Now every one thinks the pets as family members. I observed dogs are like small children and they change the home atmosphere like small children do. They play and behave similar to kids. There is a fresh and energetic atmosphere in house because of dogs. Every one feels happy and fresh and recharged when playing with the pet dogs. I certainly feel them to a part of family.

If only I have a dog, yes, she/he would be considered as a member of the family. He/she would be considered as my est friend too.

I grew up with dogs, and i can say that dogs really are man's best friend. If you treat them like family, they will be loyal to you and will really go out of their way to protect you. I have heard lots of heroic acts by dogs and that is really true. I remember one of my pet dog who helps me carry things like piece of firewood and coconut fruit. He would also accompany me wherever i go and would stay by my side all the time. So we should take good care of them the way we take care our human love ones and friends.

My dog is very much considered a part of my family. I don't have a human child yet, but I consider my dog to be my little canine son. Dogs are so loyal and cuddley, they all have their own little personality too. My dog is quite stubborn, very loyal and loves to cuddle. I've even woken up from a nap before to see him sitting there infront of me with straight posture and looking right at me, it's like he was feeling proud or watching over me.

I feel that they become family. Growing up I was around dogs but never had my own until 9 months ago. And that is when I truly realized just how much the dogs can become a part of your family. I love my puppy so much and often feel like a mommy to him. I think having a dog in the family is a great thing, they provide so much love and happiness to the family.

I do have dogs at home and they are all treated very kindly. Yes it is like they are already part of the family but unlike other dog owners we don't allow dogs to come inside our home. They do have their own house and it is there where they eat and when they like to roam around the yard they can freely do that but they are never allowed inside our house.

Ofcourse, I treat my dog as my son, haha. They are included in the family, though sometimes my family member hate them for pooping and barking they still love them.

why not. I don't have pets but I know that in USA and many more countries, pets are being seen as a family member & treat equally as their child. And dogs are the very best friend & you can blindly believe on them.

I think that in some points, they really have become part of the family or can be considered as one. I don't like pets actually but my husband has a dog and it has been with us ever since. I include it in our food and would usually think to bring home some food if we have already eaten outside.

for me, that would be A VERY BIG YES! we treat our dogs like our little baby sisters. if we get the chance to be away from home, we really get so worried and hurried to go home because we need to feed them... or maybe because we haven;t turned on the light and it's getting dark...
if we need to go out for a short time, we turn on our radio to make them feel they still have companions.
they sleep with us on the same bed.
that's how we love them :)

Absolutely. When a dog or any other pet is taken in to the home, it should be treated as family. They depend on you to feed them, take care of them, and love them. Otherwise, what a lonely existence for them. We have four dogs right now and three of them are indoor/outdoor dogs. Two sleep in our bed and lay on our couches. Life with these dogs is never boring and they give us so much love that we couldn't imagine life without them. They are teaching my children how to love and be responsible for another living thing, which is priceless. In response, we shower them with love and affection.

Some people in Canada love their dog so much they arrange to get him a Healthcare card. Then after some time they get a credit card in the dogs name, and shortly after that the dog becomes a person. AS long as he always pays off the credit card he will have a good credit rating, and can even marry. However the payoff comes as soon as he turns 65 when he begins to collect the old age pension! I wish I had a dog!
