I don't have kids as of yet, but I do think about it a lot and I know it's not going to be easy. I'm wondering what you all find to be the scariest thing about being a parent? Are you worried that you'll give your kids wrong advice or guidelines? Worried they will be part of the wrong crowd? Share your thoughts and thanks in advance.

The scariest thing about being a parent (that very few parents ever think about) is that you have to be so nice to your kids. The fact is that you look after them for the first 20 years, then nothing happens for another 40 years, but after that they begin to look after you, and in the end they get to pick out your nursing home! (The kids have the last laugh!)

You're right I bet a lot of people don't think of that. Better be really kind and respectful to your kids if you want to be properly cared for when you're elderly. Smart thinking! Thanks barehugs.

You're right, it would only take one little move/ mistake to have a heavy impact on their future. Thanks for your post Chibenze.

for me the scariest is not having enough savings or no savings at all for emergency sickness and hospitalization of your child. Prepare for that. ;-)

I don;t have children but as for me I think that the scariest part of being a parent would be losing my child. I will be scared to lose my child for eg many things happen in this world where youngsters are dying.I will die if something happens to my kids.

I think in a lot of ways I will be an over protective parent, but really in this world today can you ever be over protective? There are so many scary things out there and people that do twisted things.

I have 4 children myself and worring about them is natural. Since I am learning how to be a parent as well we are learning together, each has their own personallies and what works for one does not on the other, As far as what they pick up from others. I have found the bible is right if you train them up the way they should be trained. It will not part from them, so I feel when a situation comes up what I have taught them will be there in their heads for them to make the right decision. Will they? That's an entire other post itself! Lol

Thanks for the information ladyhill, sounds like you're taking every step you can but you're right, in the end it's up to them to follow through and usually they do.
