Hmm Now I had met this girl from Germany while she was on a holiday in Goa. She came to my house and In the library we have this Book ADOLF HITLER: MEIN KAMPF.. She said that everybody in Germany hate Hitler. Though we have the book, but I never read it because it is too thick. I am not that into history but I know that Hitler was a dictator. What comes to your mind when you think of Hitler?

I think Hitler is a part of history and time has advanced, so that many who had direct contact with this time period is a very small number – in their 80’s or greater? I’ve not read much of the translation of mein kampf but from what I understand he used bible references that compared himself to a saviour of the German people. In history it showed that he gainfully led them out of depression into much more affluent times of prosperity with a pride for comradeship. History also shows its evil recourse that lead into war. The interesting thing about mein kampf is that it can be found in the local library. One of the things that nazi propaganda dictated was to remove books that were considered contrary to the nazi cause from circulation by burning them.

If there are remnants of that book, it may be some of the reasons why there are still people out there who idolize his teachings. In fact there was or still exist the so-called Neo Nazi organizations whose ideology, I think is dangerous.

But this is exactly the point. I think neo nazi exist not because of a book but because of a mislead ideology. When we start banning books for any reason our restrictions stop the freedom of speech we cherish so deeply. That is far more dangerous than an historical book. Talking about these things reenforces the very reasons for resisting the nazi movement in the first place. Less we forget.

Hi... I have read extensively about this guy, because I'm so interested in WWII... There're confusions as to his love for the country. Some say he loved Germany, some say he was just a maniac... He'd the best Generals with him like Irwin Romel. He'd the best army in the world with best weapons system. And he conquered Europe and most of the middle east... He hated some of the other humans. And thats what took him down...

Thats what was my impression when I first read about Hitler. I remember I was crazy for a few days and had wildest ideas. But very soon, slowly, I recognized that he just got lucky e.g. During the negotiations with Vienna and Prague, he just pressurized their respective diplomats. Got them so under pressure that they gave in.. He had Gobells for the propaganda and Gobells was the most educated Nazi, who did his job way better. Same goes with Hermann Goring and other Generals like Romel. These guys had the experience of WWI and they'd experienced the real shame of defeat; so did the German people. Hitler just used them. I've also heard that Hitler had Syphillis, which is why he became such a monster... I've serious doubts about his ability as a General, because he took the worst decisions in '43 & '44. These were crucial years of war. Remember the war of Stalingrad or El Alamin! If he'd thought of taking a step back in these wars, he could have saved hundreds of thousands soldiers. In '45, he was partially insane, tell the people who spent last few days with Hitler. His hatred for Jews was the worst of all. It took him down and dragged Germany with him... An awful creature- Hitler!

I have not read Mein Kampf, but I know what he did to many people, not only jews but gypsies and all the people that were not pure arian. But even with arians he did not spare them. A whole generation of german people (including younsters) were led to think that his way was THE way and gave their lives for a cause they did not understand.

He was considered an anti-Christ, as he has wanted to wipe-out the Jews in world war II, and his profound believe of his race as the "supreme one". There were documentaries I've seen way back regarding "The Holocaust" for which Jews were arrested and executed through gas chambers.

Holocaust, also the HaShoah in Hebrew means persecution has been around for a long time, Hitler adopted it as he did many other things. In the late 1930’s he funded scientists to study the origins of where races came from but used the results of the study in a very tainted and slanted way. This enabled him to give reason to invade Poland with claim to the region. It was using faulty and malicious propaganda. What is interesting because of his religious comparisons to his purpose some religious leaders did forewarn him the same as Moses pleaded with the pharaoh to let these people go but of course both ignored these requests.

I thought that one man when it comes to hatred can really terrorize half of the globe and even the whole of it. He was one hell of a leader but used that charisma in the wrong way.

He was able to convince many people and did show them prosperity. He had a gift for leadership. I agree with you however that this man’s hatred was an evil pitfall to the world. History showed us what dictatorship could do and how a relatively small number of evil people were able to mislead the masses.

History records Hitler as a man who could inspire and motivate a mass of people with his rheoterical and sometimes inspiring speeches. He had the quality in him work a frenzy and he was assisted by some of the best military brains to make him very effective. But the other side of Hitler which was sadistic and in-humanitarian really made him one of the most dreaded dictators of the world. His genocide of the Jews was really a very dark period of history. Cheers! Ram

when i hear the name Hitler, all i can think about is the violence, injustice, cruelty and just all bad and negative things. i have seen films and read books about him and what he did in the past. i am just so glad that it is all over. BUT then it seems like war is still going on in other parts of the world. it is just so sad, because like the past during Hitler's time, it is also like killing other races. it is so sad and actually pretty scary. just keep praying and hoping for the best that all these things don't get worse and will be over.

I'm not really a fan of hitler and I haven't read his life story. All I can think of is the Nazis and those that I have watched on movies when I was a Kid. They put a lot of people on a House mad of wood and they throw something like gas, I don't know what was it but it killed the people inside that little house. From then on, I always thought that Hitler was a bad man.
