Many countries do not do well in olympics. Do not disappointed.
Just check how hard US and China prepare for the olympics. It is not only the athletes but the whole citizen efforts.
My country also do not do well. But they are fighting their best in medal hunt in olympics.

I am from Indonesia. We think we can do better. But unfortunately we fail. However, our weight lifter athletes can perform their best. Although it is not gold medal. It is already enough (because our physics is not as strong as European, American, or African athletes).

I believe it's a combination of corruption, poor administration and a strong cultural biasness towards sports.
Physique is not the reason. There's no reason why Korea can thrash India in hockey, except for corruption and ineptness in administration.
Culturally, there's also a disadvantage for the south Asian countries.
The western nations, with their militant backgrounds, has a strong culture of sports (the Greek ancient games were about soldiers throwing spears and running).
The east Asian countries like Japan, Korea, China has a deep-rooted martial arts mindset and culture that is suitable for highly technical sports such as archery, judo, weight lifting, gymnastics - which emphasize disciphone, technique and repetitive practise.
India is the more philosophical and thinking country. If there's an Olympics for philosophy, religion and talking events - India would for sure win hands-down.

We have to support players more. We give our more attention to cricket only. We should take our attention to other games also.

Olympics is the biggest stage of them and simply speaking our athletes are not good enough. And it starts from the top, we have poor administrators who do not plan for success. Occasionally there are individual talents which come through on their own and they succeed, but the administration does not really provide for success. For e.g. in the women's weightlifting, a lot of countries brought in girls who were 19 years old, so that they can get experience to succeed in the next Olympics. What did India do, it sent in a contender who is 34 years old and whose best was 17 Kilos off the gold medal winner!! What is the point of it, not forward thinking. And this has been the bane of the country.
Cheers!

Not every country is good at the sports featured at the Olympics. Countries like China spend so much time and money in their sports it is hard for other countries to compete. Look at the African countries, you don't see many winning gold except in track and field.

Hello Kiran,
I feel the main reason of India being failed in Olympics is we don't give much of the importance to other sports like we do for cricket. But on the other hand countries like China they focus more on such games which they feel could get more medals in Olympics.
