So, for while, we are still plagued by this identity theft problem nationwide, and we afraid every moment that someone behind the cashier counter might steal your credit information, and use it for something illegal. One of the main reason that is that we are still using magnetic strip in our credit cards. Why not we learn from other countries, use chip and pin technology to better protect our information?
From news, Bank of America and Amex will adopt the technology of Chip and Pin. But such usage will be limited to their customers. Take Bank of America for instance, they only offer such technology in their credit card to their customers who often travel oversea only. So, if we have to converted our credit cards from magnetic strip to chip and pin, it might take a several years to come.

Some banks have already started using this for all their cards even if you don't travel as they are "travel cards." It is a pity it took so long for this to start here as some countries have been using this for 3 years already.

The technology cannot give full protection to customers. Many credit or debit cards can be copied and be used by criminals.
