We are getting grilled over here!

Actually, we are using the grill over here! I haven't mentioned it, but the range died a couple of months ago. Not too big a deal since its summer and almost never use the oven in the summer. And we can light the gas with a match. We also have a toaster oven, a nice big one, a crock pot and a grill. So far this week alone we've cooked pork, chicken, beef and fish on it. we really only have to hang on a couple more months before we might need it, but we don't cook turkey or anything, so we could continue to hold off even longer. We will see. I do have one dish I love that cooks in the oven, but I may be able to split it in two and do it in the toaster oven. Last night we had steak on the grill - yum! Today, tilapia. I'm all for fixing lots of meals on this thing - only thing we have to do is not use the microwave and the grill at the same time - last time I did it I fried the circuit! (I mean, it RATTLED!) So, do you have a grill? or do you do your grilling outside on the BBQ?

Hi friend, good to hear about your grill and you are cooking a lot with the help of it. I don't have grill in my house, after reading your topic, i am interested in buying it, as you mentioned it is a multipurpose one.

Actually if you leave the grill on low you can roat in it just like an oven. My mother's oven is very small and she does the turkey out on the grill every year!

I realize this is off topic, but I had a dream about you last night. I have no idea why. The dream was just that I was on mylot and you just mentioned you were a man. I wrote back that all this time I thought, and so did everyone else, you were a woman. And you seemed surprised that we thought that. You kept insisting you were a man. How weird is that?

I do use a male name here, and I often use male avatars on other sites, not so much that I am in the wrong body - just that I'm in a human body anyway - I always felt kind of like I was born on the wrong planet or something... (I look like my mom so I know I'm not adopted).

I said to him, "I suppose the grill and the lawn mower are 'clearly' yours?" He makes some comment about tools being extremely personal, just like women's underwear. I went "huh?" and "since when is a barbecue a tool?"

We have a George Forman grill. First, we had the smallest one that only cooks one burger at a time, but when I saw the next larger size at a garage sale for $4.00, we bought it. Now, I can cook meat for both of us at the same time. I, too, found out the hard way that I can't use the grill and the microwave at the same time.

we gave our Foreman grill away on freecycle, but it could only fix 2 meats, this can do 3 or 4 (depending on size) - we kind of prefer 3, but we cooked tomato slices on it after the fish tonight. YUMMY!

Removable grids would be best, but I felt that I couldn't go wrong for 4.00. Actually, it isn't that hard to clean.

Hi Elic! We have a oven and a bread toaster. I came across circuit burning in my bread toaster due to too much of temperature used. Ha he! To be in your language it it circuit fry! I heard that what ever may be the device used like own, toaster, heater or grill. When we use the device more than the 65 - 70% of the prescribed temperature the device will loose its natural capability to work and when the temperature crosses the above the threshold limit there happens the circuit fry! I have taken my toaster to electrical shop to repair it. He always grabs around 50 Rs from my pocket to solder the burns here and there! I think I could have got a new toaster by spending lots of 50 Rs on my old toaster! Anyways it helped me to toast thousands of breads! However we use oven to reheat the cooked items. So, it never made me to take it to the electrical shop! Big salute to my oven and toaster too!

Oh, we have a toaster too, but its broken. We don't bother to repair them, heck, its barely worth cleaning the darn things - but that's because we don't bother getting an expensive one - the cats would break it. The oven is totally done in, the "mother board" is fried, so its not fixable.

Our stoves all come with grillers. I sometimes use mine, I rarely use my BBQ as there is just me. I have my stove, my microwave, crockpot, and my electric frying pan - I can do roasts in the frying pan at a pinch if it's not too big.

I have two grill oven but I'm fond of using the traditional one. I used grill outside with charcoal the food is more tastier to me when I cooked it over charcoal and much cheaper than using the electric grill oven.

That may be, except that I would have to buy an outside grill and then I'd be the one cooking - and I'm no great shakes as a cook.

I thought you were talking about an outside grill until I read your responses. Either way, inside or outside, I wish I had one. All that food talk makes my mouth water, haha! I've read about these and for sure will be getting one because they are suppose to be so good for you, taking out all the grease and all. I remember years and years ago I had a George Forman grill someone bought me and I never used it, food that I am. I gave it away. Now I wish I had one. Did you ever try that smoke liquid stuff that makes your meat taste like it was grilled outside on charcoal? I use it once in a while for flavoring. It's a shame you have that big old yard and can't barbecue outside. I can understand why though in your case.

I used to have some of that smoke stuff, but the person who was so thrilled with it seemed to have forgotten it existed, and I don't care that much - if I want smoked meat, I get BBQ out. Yeah, big yard, but barely used (except for sheds, of course!)

I don't have a grill but I would like to have one eventually. Meat always tastes better on the grill! My ex used to grill a lot when he had time and he was very good at it. I'm not so good at it! But I would like to get one when I finally get settled somewhere. I mostly use my toaster oven and microwave right now because of the heat--I don't skimp on the A/C but I see no reason to make it work harder than it has to!

I don't have a grill of any kind anymore. I love anything that's cooked on an outside grill. I have thought about buying another grill many times since mine wore out but it's alot of trouble for just me. Sounds like y'all are doing fine.

I have a gas grill outside that we actually use most every night in the summer. It really helps with keeping the heat down in the house..not to mention I really like grilled food..lol. Vegetables are even better on that thing.

we don't do outside, the roomie can't really see outside because of the brightness and I'm allergic to bugs, besides, the dogs in the back yard would be too much help! we grilled some tomato slices on the grill after we took off the fish, they were yummy!

I don't have a grill. I love hamburgers ans steak done on the grill! The only chance I get top eat burgers and steak on the grill is at work! Sometimes the cooks will do it outside on a grill or on the grill inside. Next to the kitchen is the store where kids can get stuff like food, soda and other needs. During the the school year it is open and so is the grill. That is where the hamburgers are grilled when done inside. The grill sells and makes alot of hamburgers, fries, other deep fried food and even subs during the school year! Even grilled chicken, which is really good!

This grill is actually good for your health, the fat drains off, and if you don't burn things you don't get the dangerous things... We even grilled some tomato slices!

I have a foreman grill, an electric skillet, an electric griddle, several crockpots of various sizes, a roaster and thanks to needing them for product demos etc. we have multiple toaster ovens. We have a smoker and grill outside. I think you could get a roaster and never worry about an oven again. They are only about thirty dollars. I cook turkeys, chicken, large roasts, etc. in them.

Our oven crapped out yeas ago, and our landlady is too cheap to replace it, so we've bee using our George Foreman grill, and our crockpot for everything. Not to mention, the microwave. A toaster oven would be a good idea. Thanks for suggestingit.

I use Maggie's toaster oven for almost everything, firing up her oven heats the whole apartment, and I have to find some place else to put all the stuff that's normally stored in it while its being used.

Hi Elic! Hubby and I used to cook on the gas grill but we found it to be not the same as a charcol grill, the taste is so different so we did away with the gas grill and now when we do grill, it's the old fashioned way. Luckily for you, it gives you time to wait out for sales and when it's time to get a new range, you'll get it at a discounted rate!

We have our eye on a range that has all the controls on the front - less accessible to the brats who have killed the last 2 ranges.... This is a counter top grill, so we can stay inside in the air conditioning and not cook ourselves as well as our food!

Hi ElicBxn that reminds me of the last apartment I lived in. You did not dare use the toaster and the microwave at the same time or zap it triggered the circuit then the fridge would shut down as all three were on the same circuit.we did not fry it but then it took awhile to find which one was tripped.Oh I love tilapia but whenever I cooked it it fell apart. but it w as so good. I miss not being able here in G old Crest tto cook for myself. as a diabetic its a lot easier managing your blood sugar when you made your own meals.I did not have a grill but always wanted to get one. happy cooking and happy mylotting too.

Since I've lived here so long, I know what circuit its on, but that time was the last time for that poor old circuit! I know, my mom used to do very well before she had to go into the health care center, but even there, we finally got the doc to take off the diabetic note, because she was always at a good level! She was never very high and always controlled it with her diet.

I'm not a fan of grilling. Oh, I love grilled foods, but the thought of standing outside in the summer heat while manning (or is it womanning, when we do it) a hot grill appeals to me about as much as climbing down inside a volcano crater to gather samples. I might do it if I had a carport or some kind of patio roof or lawn tent so I could actually be out of the sun, but even then, the stifling heat and humidity would render it so unattractive, I would probably wait until sundown to begin. In fact, I was so not wanting to grill that after my mother passed, I DONATED her gas grill (with the canister full of gas) to a local thrift store. I didn't even want to try it. I'd rather use charcoal. We do have a small hibachi grill we can use if we feel up to it, but we haven't yet at all. And, if we had a roofed area where we could use it, we could also use it in the winter, assuming there is no wind.

this is like a George Foreman grill, an inside, counter top grill - no outside for us - we live in TEXAS - you just have no IDEA how bad it can get here (TRUST ME - I've been in both states!)

Aha! Got it. We have two, well three if I can ever find my mother's, George's. They're nice, but I am not all that good on them. And, you don't get the smokey flavor you get from the other kind. I supposed, though, if you added liquid smoke to the marinade, you might get something similar. I'll have to consider that one.

This is a counter top grill, but it does a lot like an outside grill, except you can stay inside in the air conditioning! The fat drains off, you don't have to worry about cancer from the charcoal (or whatever it is you have to worry about.)
