The last week or so we've had a lot of bats in our house. We scoot them outside, but they somehow get inside. The first we thought maybe at night we opened the door, and we didnt notice it fly in. But almost every night we get 1 or 2 bats in the house. The cats were having fun chasing it around the house, Stripes was a chicken and crying now all scared. Toppie and Patches were with the other cats running after it, Patches jumped and knocked at it.

Is there some way they have gotten in your attic and can come through a vent. That happened one time at my house. We were gone but my son was here and put it outside.

The attic is sealed off, and the only entrance is through my sisters room. But in our house to be honest there is a few ways they can get in. The stove pipe wasnt sealed off, the vent for the cooking stove wasnt sealed off, nor the bathroom vents, the front window is old, and rotting and there is a small hole that can probably get through, and a hole in the wall from the sumpump. My Dads a handyman just doesnt finish the job completely. It's only been the last few weeks we;ve had an issue.

That is one thing that I am definitely able to say that we've never had to get into our house. However, not too long after we moved into the house, there was a bird that somehow found its way down our chimney and ended up on our fireplace. I really didn't know what to do because I didn't want to open up the screen and run the risk of having the bird flying wild through our house. Finally, I was able to trap it in a cereal box and take it outside where I let the poor little thing free.

Its a shock at first, just seeing it. The others in the house were running around screaming like idiots while the cats ran after it. We just got a towel or cover then let it outside. But I looked it up and bats can get in tiny tny holes my Dad doesnt believe it.

started chasing it then went and hid under the bed
the black cat i think he was smileing he wanted but did
not know how to get it I do not have experince
chasing bats so i call the police dept and ask them
they sent the fire dept. the bat was tired of flying around
it only took the fire guys a second to catch it and let it lose

how did those things rise up eventually leading to so much panic.may be its because that place might not have been used for long time leading to dungeons and some bat becoming habituated.so try to clean up those areas often so you live in a peace environment .they can trouble you at time spreading infections also

I agree with GardenGerty. Someone should check out your attic. When I live in Iowa several years ago, many of the old houses had problems with baths getting into the attic because of the architecture style.

I remember when I'm still in the big city I always saw the one bat flying over the trees I think he leaves there. Everybody was scared and talking about Drakula the bat came out every 12am that's why they assume it was. But here in my town I never saw one.

Bats are like mice, if they can get their head through a hole, they can get the rest of their body in. They will infest an attic and are a horrible health hazard from their feces. Plus there is a debate about whether they carry rabies or not...but they can carry other diseases. People can get extremely ill and die from the bat feces and diseases that are carried by them.
I am glad the cats had fun chasing the bats, but for your safety you do need to investigate WHERE they are coming in. A piece of screening will work to control their entering the house providing that there is a hole that they are coming in through. The screen needs to be nailed or stapled so it covers the hole. The best time to do that is at dusk when they leave the spot they are living in.

that would really creep me out. i know they are cute and some wont bother you but ive heard they can get tangled in your hair. and there are some vampire bats that will bite. also they can carry rabies like anything else wild. one lady i worked for used to have one out by her porch light and if you walked out there and turned on the light, it would fly away. i heard they dont like light.

Oh my gosh! Well, at least the cats are having fun.
One time, we had a baby flying squirrel get inside the house, and we never figured out how. The cat cornered it, but absolutely REFUSED to get within two feet of it. She had the poor little baby terrified too.
Eventually, we got him wrangled into a trash can (without a bag in it, of course), and put it outside. He climbed out within a few minutes, and we re-claimed our trash can. Since then, two more and a baby black snake found their way in. We've moved out of the house since. (Not because of the animals, of course.)

Wow that's really weird. Wonder why they like your particular house so much. Hmm, do you fry a lot of food? Maybe they are attracted to the smell. I never heard of this.
I love bats, just not in the house ha ha. I think they are so cool. When I see one I'm like look look a bat! Ha ha. They're fascinating to me.
