If you are thinking of traveling abroad for a 1 or 2 week vacation, why not try Bangkok and experience the food and the places in Bangkok. And enjoy shopping at MBK Mall, Imporium Mall and Pratunam, it's cheaper there!

I would love to go to Thailand. My mother and aunt has been here and they have enjoyed their stay. I'm hoping to visit the country when my son is a bit older. I've read in one travel sites some really nice hotels for family with kids. I forgot the site and the hotel names. There is this one that I really like and I'm hoping you have an idea what hotel it is. This hotel has real elephants roaming around their backyard near the swimming pool. I think it would be nice to stay in this hotel and my son would surely love seeing the elephants everyday.

I strongly disagree. Bangkok was by far the worst part of Thailand I experienced but then again Thailand as a whole was just amazing. The beaches were out of this world, some of the most amazing scenes I have even seen. Things were well priced, I guess that happens when you depend on tourism to such an extent. For anyone who wants to see Asia I would state without a doubt that Thailand is a great place to start.

I would love to visit the amazing beautiful and interesting city of Bangkok and Thailand also offers tropical islands. I would go shopping at its handy market to get some lovely wooden mini houses to go in my collection. The malls sound cheap so I would visit those too. I am keen to go island hopping in Thailand. The hot weather would be so ideal and lovely for me to experience.

What I liked the most there was the Sentosa Island where we were taken in glass boats to see the corals down below in the sea and a trip by mono rail.
I also liked the food that was available on the roadside managed by women.

I am actually going to Bangkok in a few months, for the first time. I am looking forward to it a lot, but I haven't really thought about or planned what I will be doing there. But it's good to know there are quite a few things to do at least!

Hi there dnoblec!
I have been to Thailand several times already. It is indeed a beautiful place. But I prefer the beaches of Thailand especially during summer than to spend time in the City of Bangkok. Phuket, Samui, Krabi and Pattaya. Before the Christmas season though, I like it in Bangkok because of shopping.

Yes, Bangkok is indeed a nice place to visit if you've not visited it before as it is really an eye opener for people from different cultures. Anyway, I always find it fascinating to visit places which have a variety of cultures and practices. Also food is plentiful, inexpensive and easily available. Of course, security can be a concern as with all big cities. One needs to be sensible and careful to avoid places which are known to have problems. Have a good day.
