What does it mean to be approachable?

Just an hour ago, my boyfriend and I were discussing the reasons why I wasn't able to be on the SICO volunteer pool (this is a certain office in our school). Of course, there were a lot of reasons that he said and indeed it was very true to me until we've come to a point when he said that I am friendly however I am not approachable. That made me think. Is it possible to be friendly without even being approachable? What does it mean to be approachable?

Maybe your being easy to be friend with but sometimes your not approachable, its sounds confusing but you know many people are moody. Like me I'm friendly and approachable, I love to help allot but sometimes you really cant tell that you are avoiding some people.
