I graduated my bachelors degree, took and passed the board exam but I'm not working in the field where I am lined to. Instead, I worked in the church. My mom didn't agree with my decision but I believed that this is the will of God for my existence. My mom always said that we are very poor, how can you help us if you keep on working in the church? She said my father can't work anymore. It seems that all my strength are gone out from me. I can't quit in the church but also I can't endure seeing them suffering from poverty. I don't know what to do. God's grace is sufficient for me.

Life is not all about money, just stick with you instinct I know that you know, God gave you that problem to make you stronger, He wants to be with you. Its a challenge so take it and prove to your mom that serving God is not a problem. The Lord is always be with you don't you ever think to give up.

Huh? Working in the church doesnt sound so financially rewarding... Perhaps you just need to justify to your mom your need to work elsewhere. There is no career path in a church.

If you think getting a work related to your course would help your family, why not do that. I know working for the church gets you closer to God, but maybe you're meant to work not as a servant of God after all. Maybe you're meant to help your family first, to help them survive any crisis before you work for the church.

It would be a good idea to really evaluate your situation. It is important that we do our best to take care of our family responsibilities. In fact the Bible tells us it is important that we put that as a priority in our life. Perhaps you can decide whether you can work volunteer on weekends and work in your career full time.

Serving God and earning a living are both important. If there is anybody in this world that can fully understand your situation without any reservation, it would be our Lord. He knows your needs, He knows your heart's desire. I am no expert when it comes to relationship with God and on serving Him, but He will also like for you to help out your family. You can still serve Him in many other ways that is pleasing to His eyes. I am not saying you should heed your mother's words. All I'm saying here is that you can still get a work that will enable you to help out your family while at the same time have time to serve the Lord. Just hang on, and keep on praying for His guidance. You will also know in your heart the right decision that you have to make. Don't lose hope.

sometimes..i guess you have to strike balance... i know you serving in the Church will be fulfilling spiritually yet you cannot also be at ease as you also need to eat, provide...find a work that will make you happy, or find a work and still you can continue serving HIM.. i have friends who do this.

I don't know what country you're from or what options you might have to gather resources for yourself and your parents.
It's fine to work in your church if your religious organization can help you with the resources that you and your parents need.
Pray about your options so maybe you can do both, work in your church and also, provide the necessary resources for you and your parents to survive.

Hi friend, sad to hear about your situation, as you mentioned you are in poverty, you must work for your parents. There is nothing wrong in working in church and made it as a part time work, for your family needs, you must find a proper job in your field and earn a good income for your parents. Wish you to get your job in the near soon. Surely god will help you
