i am a person who does a lot of reading in their spare time, i usually spend a lot of time thinking about the universe and the world around me, a long while back , if in effect basically around 3 to 4 years ago i stumbled across a book by Stephen hawking called a brief history of time, it was a very interesting read, and it really opened new avenues of thought for me, it caused a lot of questions to rise in my mind however and the desire to share the uniqueness of the concept with all which is why i have initiated this discussion.
i have had this thought bubbling in my mind for quite some time about the nature of time. what is it exactly, what is the physical phenomenon of time.
as these words are getting printed on my screen i wonder where the new words are coming from and where is the moment when i first typed that first character of the first word going, how can i get back to that moment, and even if it is logically possible.
i want to know what you all think about this, please share your views about your perception of time and things that you think are possible and not possible in regards to the function of time and it's physical existence.

I havent ever read any Stephen Hawkings, i did see a programm on his brief history of time once and was amazed, though a lot of it did go straight over my head!
Time is a weird one isnt it, and i think ties in well with things like the question of life...all things we live our lives with never really knowing or fully understnading the concepts, and yet many of us are happy to not know. I think it true ignorance is often bliss!

trust me you dont know how right you are, i belive that knowledge is power but it is also the ultimate pandora's box as well, i mean once you open a facet of knowledge and become aware, it totally changes you perception in a way that you can never go back to your original thought, and that's i think the biggest thing.
time certainly is weird, did you know that time is different for everyone and i dont mean the way if you live in 2 different countries, on a much more fundamental level, einstien that smart old cookie once said that time can be bent with gravity, and anything that has a large gravitation could actually bend Spacetime, which is actually the only kind of time there is.
it's like if you have 4 people grab at a corner of a sheet and have one person throw a watermellon in the middle of that sheet, it's going to go in the middle and the edges will be the same but the middle where the watermelon is will sag,
well imagine that sheet to be time itself, and the watermelon a planet, meaning time becomes stretched in front of gravity, and if you know about black holes, that will totally blow you away, imagine if the sheet were to rip, and remember i said that the sheet ment time, if something heavy enough were to be placed on the sheet it would rip and the thing would fall through, where would it go ?
just imagine, time can be ripped, time can be warped, what the hell is time if we can change it, is anything real ??

in my opinion.time is a magic existence.sometimes it passed so fast, such as working, sleeping or playing.but sometimes it passed so slow, such as meeting or examing.so i do not understand how it worked.

For me, one basic characteristic of time is that it is really essential. It is important not to waste it because we will not be able to return it. even just a minute or a second is important. It is just that there are times that we take time for granted and we never do things that will make every seconds of our life meaningful. Time moves so fast that in a moment you could just reminisce those moments that you had spend your time.
