Negative/positive ratings on someone's post

What will happen if you rate someone's post? Will they know that you rated them?

In mylot no facility to see who rated you and whose rated us. But I can say I always rated positive rating. Someone may be negative rating on me but I never do this.

I also do this but I only rate them positive if I have completely agree with someone.

No. We cannot know who has rated us + or -. There is a mechanism by which prejudice element is reduced -- that so many number + or - of one member to another member only may be taken into account. However where the number in bracket is less even a few + or - will make difference. When you perceive a person not favourable or against fully then it is advisable to avoid making responses for his discussions and confine yourself to your preferred circle of friends and topics.

"it never occurred in my mind to use the ratings button against them" The DRS (Discussion Rating System) should not be used for or against people but for rating posts. How to use the rating system correctly is explained here by myLot: http://www.mylot.com/o/faq/faq17.aspx#2 There will be "arrogant and irritating" people here in the same way that there are some offline too. Indeed we cannot please everyone and maybe some feel the same way about you

So, it's all about playing safe? I must admit that there are a handful of arrogant and irritating people here in mylot, but it never occurred in my mind to use the ratings button against them.

The link provided by you -- FAQ -- makes an interesting reading. It assures that the DRS is done on a methodology that will prevent misuse and also monitoring is done to see nobody misuses it. May be I have read it earlier. thanks for providing one more opportunity to read and appreciate it. I am of the view that we need to be pleasant to good to others in online community also especially because we cannot see one another. Philosophically speaking -- One cannot take anything with him/her except the good words people may speak about him/her. mysdianait: Madam - Is there any special reason for using this avatar? good day.

No, you can't see who rate you. When a number of plus or minuses are counted, the person will see the change seeing his own rating changed.

Well, what if someone hates you here in mylot and decided to rate you negative on your every post. Wouldn't that be that unfair on your part? just my thoughts. . .

Yes it is suggested things to not be done because of personal affection from someone else. That's why people care to keep the good manners, while discussing and respect each others view.

usemyname: You are from Philipines which has a number of active members. Has your rating got increased/decreased suddenly? What are you doing -studying or working? What is the reason for car being selected as avatar? do you like cars very much ?
