Sleeplessness or disturbed sleeping is very harmful for our health. For deep sleep doctors have given us many suggestions. Hard disciplined life is the first requirement for sufficient sleep. If we eat timely, read timely and do all the works with discipline then we can get regular sleeping. Then there will be no late sleep or late rising. Exercise is the another way of good sleeping. Everyday regular exercise or walking for half an hour is useful for good sleep. Moreover to bath with slight hot water before go to bed is also effective for good sleeping. To read book for 15 to 20 minutes is also useful for good sleep. Before sleeping windows should be opened and radio-television must be shutdown. But it should be remembered that drinking tea or coffee must be avoided at night. It is too harmful for our health.

Hi bhanu, in my case , the moment my head touches the pillow I am off .I normally read a few pages and I don't even get to the 2nd or 3rd page before I am normally asleep. However, I agree with you that it is better to sleep early and at the same time to develop a healthy sleep pattern - all the best

Hi kiran,
it is a good sign that you sleep the moment your head touches the pillow. That means you are a tension free lady. Yes it is better to go early in bed and early rise. But for myself I go to sleep after 12-30 am and rise at 6 am. It is not a healthy sleep pattern. Have a nice morning.

Try to step out from the continuous mind activity, just focus on the moment of NOW. This practise will help us to keep our mind clear and an easy way to sleep. Try it:)

Severe physical fatigue, mental preoccupation with matters of life and thinking, the stomach is filled by eating, drinking and not to organize your work and attend appointments, and a lot of sitting and lack of movement, all these factors affect the effective sleep comfortable and non-intermittent.
Manage your business, start with things more important then the least important, write a plan for what you will be doing the next day before going to sleep, so clearing your mind of everything that concerns you when you're ready to sleep,
so you enjoy quiet sleep.

It is very important that we have good quality sleep, as it is something that is very important for our overall health. Far too many people have problems because of the fact that they haven't had enough sleep, and it is something that could be changed so easily. Personally, I always make sure that I relax for half an hour before I want to try to go to sleep, as it is a lot easier to be able to sleep when you have wound down a little bit. I also try to ensure that my bedroom is quiet and is a decent temperature, as I can't sleep when it's too hot so I have to make sure that everything is okay.

The older I get the harder it is to sleep in a benefical manner. I drink no caffine after 7 AM and take no naps during the day. I try to keep to the same habits each day, but that is difficult. I did take dsleeping pills for a while but found they gave me sleep , but not the healthy kind. Usually if I meditate before I sleep I can get 2 to 3 hours good sleep.

Yes pat, with aging sleep becomes harder. To take sleeping pills for long time is not good for health. You may be addicted to this. So it is better to avoid sleeping pills. Rather you can take relaxation pills. I think in your age 2 to 3 hours good sleep is enough for you.

I don't fall asleep easy, due to my brain always being in over drive. So, for me the things that work are, no drinking anything too late, keep a night time routine for as many nights as possible like go to bed at the same time and get up at the same time. I work the over night shift once a week, so it does mess with my sleep. I also read before sleeping it makes me relax and get sleepy. Benadryl to relax also, plus lots of busy activities during the day including exercise to help exhaust my very busy brain.

Time management also has something to do with good sleeping. I'm working in a graveyard shift, and so, I'm used to sleep at mornings - I manipulate my sleeping room, put some dark blinds, fully ventilated or air conditioned, also, have a slight hot bath beofre going to bed, eat my oatmeal and drink a glass of warm milk. I usually have 6 to 8 hours of sleep daily. Thanks
