My Anxiety These Past Few Weeks

Philippines

I'm still waiting for my credit card application's approval. I applied last July 19 and it's still pending. What I wanna talk about is the anxiety that comes with it. I've been waiting for it since the day I applied and I just couldn't bear the bang that comes with anxiety. I can't sleep right, I can't eat right, I always look for an online forum to see how other's applications went, just to see if I have a chance of getting approved.. and apparently, it also causes you to write a discussion just to talk about it. I guess I'm just too excited since I have too many plans for that credit card.

Have you had a credit card before? In Malaysia, to qualify for a credit card, the person must earn a minimum of RM2000.00 a month. Credit card is convenient but we must be wise when using it. There are many hidden cost like late charges, interest on balance of amount outstanding etc. Hope you got your credit card soon.

Dear shaqziad, Thanks for sharing this with me, it was new to me. I have not have any CIMB credit card, perhaps you are right. Wow, CIMB is really aggressive in their sales. Could it be CIMB Debit card? They have quite a promotion on their Debit card too with fantastic contests.

Eh, is this true? I'm from Malaysia too, and last year i received an offer from CIMB bank for one of their credit card, even when i said to them i was a student with no permanent income. Of course, i decline the offer because i don't want one, but they did offer.

anxiety is not good, especially when i think you will also get anxiety after you receive the card, which is the anxiety of whether you can pay back the bill or not. that is what you got from using credit card. anyway, i thought credit card approval only need a week or so? or is it just fast here, and not so fast in other country?

I guess it depends on which country you're in. Here pretty much takes weeks to get your card. I've even read somewhere that they got their card after a few months. To me, that's insane.

Now I know. Usually it takes around a week here, and like what venessapaula said earlier, some bank even send you one without you even applying. it only require you to activate the account to use the card. it is very tempting, the idea of using credit card, especially if someone get it freely without applying, but so far i still don't need to use one. maybe in the future.

Hi, frontvisions!!!That seems long!!! I'm also from the Philippines, but I don't have to wait that long for a credit card. Credit card marketers are very aggressive and would practically shove applications forms to your face in the malls. I even had a friend who had credit cards being sent to her (which she declined) because she never applied for them. Credit card companies seem to buy information from others and if they think you are a potential customer, they will send cards even if you haven't applied. I think the best you could do is follow up with the bank or apply with other companies.

You are having this trouble- anxiety waiting for your credit card's approval..fine. I throw every papers coming in my desk for credit card application. Goodness- for all heavens sake, how many times I decline my bank each time they offer me credit card and no matter how they enumerate all the benefits of it sorry- they're not good enough for me to listen. Maybe I am a better customer representative than they are -lols (they can't convinced me )

I was hoping to build a good credit standing with RCBC that's why I applied. Plus, there are lots of ways that I can use that, besides for emergency purposes. I think I'll have to learn the lesson by getting into the mess myself. I think it's for the best.

Hi! If this is the first time you applied for a crdit card, I understand you. :) The first time I received a call for my credit card application, I blew it off because I was so nervous. I was new to the company then and almost everybody has a credit card. So I applied even though I was not living anywhere near the province where they cater applications. So when the officer asked me about specific landmarks on my declared address, I was shocked, stammered, and finally, just dropped the call because I didn't really know what to say. Lol Anyway that was 1995 and the credit card companies then were still so meticulous in processing applications. Nowadays, almost everybody has a credit card. It's really very easy to apply and get approved. I have 3 cards, one for my gas (it give 5% off on all my fuel charges), another for my grocery and utility bills (gives 3%) off on all my credit card purchase, and just got a new one that offers up to 50% off on women's laboratory expenses. The thing with the credit card is, you don't learn to use one, until you actually had one. Five years ago I had around 7 credit cards and I wanted to cut all of them for causing me to spend so much that I felt I can no longer swim myself out of my debts. Then I started attending seminars on how to manage personal budget and spending. And of course, I stopped using the credit card for a while, about one or two years, I think. When I finally felt I'm ready and responsible enough, I re-applied for a Shell card and i've been using it since then. Now I have three cards and I manage them well. Just make sure you don't use them unnecessarily and pay in full monthly. Always think that the interest they will charge you is equivalent to something important you can buy instead.

Well, didn't get my credit card. I called and they said I was declined. It's probably because of my monthly income. Anyway, thanks for the info, I had fun reading your stories.

I waited patiently and hoped for the best, but I guess my salary just isn't not good enough. I got denied as a credit card holder. I'll have to apply again, but after I get a higher paying job.

I have experienced this. I am still a college student and I have already some credit cards but I want my own credit card. i want a credit card that is not tied to my parents so I applied for one. they did approve me because I did not have any job and no income since I am still a student. I am thinking of applying after I get a stable job and after graduation. Happy mylotting.

Yeah, you shouldn't apply for a supplementary card. You should just wait for the time when you already have a stable job. Having your own credit card limit is cooler than being tied with your parent's account, they won't be able to monitor your purchases if you have your own account.

Why not call the bank and follow up? I have had a card delayed because they wanted to give me a crazy high credit limit but they were waiting on my car note to be paid one more month. I just wanted a card to put gas on not put a down payment on a car lol Honesty, this post does not make it seem like you are responsible enough to have a credit card and use it responsibly.

You're probably right. Although I'm quite determined to give the bank another worthy cardholder. I wanna buy some gadgets, a pc and some other stuff I might get aware of in the future but I also intend to use the card for emergency purposes too.

I hope that you very soon get your credit card and pin number through the post. It will be lovely if you have zero percent interest to pay for a number of months. Then you will be able to make some purchases. I applied for a credit card but getting approved took way too long for my liking. I wondered if they would approve me and accept my application. In the mean time I applied for another credit card and was accepted quickly. Weeks later I got approved for the original credit card that I asked to have. I am sorry that you are suffering anxiety because you are waiting for your credit card to come to you. It might take a couple of weeks and as you applied on July 19 it could be any day now. So I wish you lots of luck.

I hope so too. I hope they call in already for credit inquiry. I'd take that as a sign that the processing is on its way. Been waiting for too long now and it's really driving me nuts.
