Have you ever told with cats? I do everyday..because i live alone and a mother cat bothers me anytime when i am at home. I am very patient with her also...since she is pregnant... A mother cat likes to do meowing anytime she sees me and i talk with her such as what, what do you want? huh? eat more? no more food, food is empty now, why are you so noisy?..blah blah..like that. Hmmm, i maybe autistic... For sure she can't talk, but she does meowing back..and i think she may understand my talking, sometime i told her: why do you do meowing a lots, Noo never does like you then she does rub her head, her body to my leg, my foot, it is so funny to see her at that time.

Ah, i see. Then it is ok for you don't be closed to any animal that has hairs like cats and dogs... Your health is the most important.

We talk to our cats all the time. Do they answer us? Well, some meow back... If you ask if they need food, a few run to the bowl. When I woke up this morning, the food bowl was empty - now, we've assigned that duty as something the totally blind roommate could do - since she was up - I told her to feed the cats - I also suggested she try feeding them twice a day since she can't fill their bowl up as much as I can.

They were all staring at me - happily, most of them have figured out that the blind roomie's step on them!

hihi, all cats have same manner when want to have more food. My mother cat does the same, always run follow my foot to reach to her bowl... i think cats love a person who often feed them. When i go to hometown, my mom cats don't care my talk, but since i feed them, they are friendly to me so fast...

Yes, i know. I guess my Noo forgot me already..and if i go back to hometown now, i am a strange person to her. Cats forget their ex-owner so easily, not like dogs.

Hi ryanong, Just recently, I found out that cats only meow to humans, not to other cats. I was very surprised but also quite delighted. My various cats have all greeted me when I got home from work and we would have wonderful conversations. I'd ask them what they'd been doing all day and they would tell me. It was so nice. I took that attention for granted even though it pleased me but now I realise that they had missed me while I was gone. Cats are such loving and delightful creatures.

I read somewhere that cats and dogs have their own way of understanding things. Hence I am sure they understand what we are telling them. We had two cats for three years and all of us used to talk to them. If I say the cat outside that dad is waiting for your food, immediately it used to go to my house. If I say go to sister, it used to go upstairs to my daughter's room. But unfortunately they left us one by one and did not return home.

Oh, really? i am sorry to hear that. what happened to him/her then he/she could not go home? Yes, i agree with you too, they can understand our talking since we talk with them everyday. I always laugh whenever my cat asks to have more food by rubbing her head on my foot.

Hi,ryanong~ Oh,yeah,I do that all the time. Right now my boyfriend is back in the States and I'm staying here in China. I'm living in his room and taking care of his cat. She is just sooooo adorable. Every time I come back from work or meals, she would jump down the shelf and welcome me. And I would say "Hi" to her every time. It's funny when I think about that. She was a stray cat while she was a new born. And she is a Chinese cat. Then my boyfriend took her in and right now she only understands English~ And whenever she makes miaow sounds, I would talk to her too.Sometimes like talking to a baby. I find it fun and cute.

hihih, it is nice when Chinese cat understands English only...i can understand your feeling when you have that cat. She looks like a friend, a baby...she can understand your talk, your feeling, just she can't speak out and does meowing only. We can feel her feeling through her meowing also..but i am not good at that..

I remember one time she was trying to meow but her voice was soooo hoarse. My boyfriend was already back to the States and I got sooooo worried about her.She turned out fine the next morning. I can't wait to see how she would react when my bf gets back. LOL~

This time my cat is the same, her voice is not louder as in previous time, i guess she is pregnant so that not much energy to make loud voice... If you bf goes back soon then for sure she still remember him, if too long, she may forget..same my previous cat, Cesar, he forgot me totally since he moved to live in hometown with my mom.

Oh yes! LOL I talk to my cats all the time, they love it! I will tell you, all animals love to be chatted to. It's part of how we show them we love them. They seem to associate our words with our actions, they are not stupid by any means. for example, after a while, they will seem to notice certain vocal changes to mean you wish for them to eat, go out, sleep, jump on the bed, jump off the bed, etc. So that 's a good thing about it. It's normal, and you are just setting up communications for them :D Think of it this way, you are developing a special language with another species, that is what it boils down to :) Take care and have a great day!

I have four little kittens and I love them a lot. Sometimes me too stay alone at home, so I talk to my cats. I like their presence in my home. I take them on my lap and talk to them. I call them my little babies. I really adore cats. It is nice when they rub their head on my legs, they do it when they are hungry. My cats have filled my life with joy.

I not only talk to my pets I do that with plants too. We really do not know how much or whether these mute creatures will understand us but it does gives us satisfaction if we find even a bit of reaction from them and I do notice that reaction many a time.

Yes I talk to my kitty all the time. He is the love of my life. I really don't know what I would do if I did not have him. he is very affectionate. Last week he had to go to the Vet overnight visit, got his shots, teeth cleaned, had to have him declawed because he would not use scratcher but wanted to use end of our box springs and bottom of couch. so had to get it done before I did not have any furniture left. But he is always with me. either laying beside me or in my lap or getting in my face for attention. So you kind of have to talk to him LOL

Even i go to take shower, she lies in the front of bathroom door to wait me out...so cute she is...

Hello ryanong. I am also very fond of talking to my cat. I sometimes even imitate or create meowing sounds. LOL. Some people think that it is an odd behavior but some think that it's actually cute. Well I don't really care as long as it makes me happy. Although when one talks to a cat one cannot get a response., unless of course you are talking to "talking Tom", it still can make someone feel better because cats can be very good quiet listeners.

I think most people do. Or I'm just like a grown-up child... I don't even have a cat, but when I see a cat (I love cats), I'm like "OOoooooh, how cute you are, you are the cutest little cat ever" and if I have food with me "Would you like some ham?" and other idiotic things :D.
