what annoys you about facebook?

the one thing that would top almost everyone's list would be the incessant string of utterly ridiculous status updates. every mundane activity is recorded- what they ate for breakfast and that they just left for work..then its the self-depreciating comments like "i am such a fool" and 'my life sucks' etc..how would putting this up on the wall make it any easier for you to deal with?..:-/ the ones that demand a special mention are the vague updates or rather the attention seeking statues- 'oh my god' or 'i just cant believe it' or 'i hate it'..:-/
Second annoying thing is people that are on vacation and constantly updating their statues..you are on vacation and you dont need to be on facebook at all..also people who put up every single picture they ever taken..

Yes, there is some annoying part for FB is really so horrible. I am not so mad with FB and sometime just for 2-5 mts. I may spend and that is all. But if someone goes to my page, visit, upload, comment, and do anything, I used to get a message from FB saying that so & so person viewed, commented, etc. and which has no relavance and not at all important also.
Such mails are really irritating and anyone who want to know much on this, they will get everything whenever they are visiting the page.

Hi,
Thanks for yoru response.
That is what I think we need to customise our page appropriately as per our need, otherwise anyone can do whatever they want and it is alwasy better to keep a level of privacy and confidentiality instead of all the travellers may jump and have a look on what they are not supposed to do...
Regards

Hi, I have subscribed for mobile notifications so that i can know about my friends when i can't access the internet but finally i had to unsubscribe this function because some of my friends use to tag everyone( including me) in their pics (and those pics are mostly like wallpapers or jokes etc..:-/) my inbox was full very soon with tons of unnecessary notifications..it disturbed me a lot getting messages on messages every second..:(

I like Facebook. I love all the different games and I have no problem with the timeline. I don't know what the deal is with people who have a problem with it. If you ever want to go back and find a cute comment or pic all you have to do is know approximately when it was and scroll to there on the timeline. And I am thankful too for the chat option because my BFF lives three states away from me and her phone doesn't have very good sound so I can hardly hear her and her voice sounds garbled. So I feel very fortunate to have this means of communication with her. And I hardly ever hear from my granddaughter unless its a poke or short note occasionally on there. I do have a problem with the language a couple of the guys use on there but I just ignore it and move on. As far as people and their vacation statuses, that would make me irritated. Wish I could afford a vacation. I agree that if you are on vacation you don't need to be on Facebook but some people are just addicted to the net and it feels weird unless you check your emails and see whats going on on the net once in awhile. I know when I did go on a vacation last(nearly two years ago now)I felt weird not having access to the internet but I did live through it. Happy Mylotting!

Hello celticeagle, I also like facebook, i also love to chat with friends and family members and i also like to upload my pics and to see others' pics..I am not against facebook but i was talking about people who overdo all this with foolish things..who like to read rubbish statues like- "todays' menu- a, b, c"..or "i hate it! i hate it!" or "no time for facebook" or "i am bored of facebook" (:D and still on facebook).
when I come back for a vacation i also like to share my pics (selected) with friends and love to get cute and good comments from them, but i cant understand why some people give minute-by-minute narration of their vacation while they are on vacation, are they really enjoy their vacation..because if they were they wouldn't have this much time to share about their fantastic holidays..may be it is personal thing but when on a holiday, better to enjoy it than to share it with others..you wont believe, I find some people giving updates after every 2 minutes like- going to xyz place then after 2 minutes- reached to that place..then after 2 minutes again- enjoying it again after 2 minutes- totally loving it..bla bla..
I said about pictures also..is it really necessary to share every single picture you have? for example- 90-150 pics of your honeymoon and most of them are taken at same place or some people love their dog/cat but do other people really want to see them eating, sleeping or doing whatever they do..why do they think that it would interest others..:-?

That is rather odd. They are either addicted to the internet or having nothing better to do. They probably think it would interest others because they enjoy hearing it from others. Some people are just weird.

All that you mentioned, also bothered me.
The other is, writing status with harsh words, don't respond to a birthday greeting, or just say helo.
Again, there are a few of your friends list, whose accounts are inactive.

People posting nonsense or rude things. I mean, there are friends of mine who post 25 statuses each day about what they eat, what the weather is like, where they go to party, drunk statuses... some soccer-freak guys who are supposedly friends swear at each other when they cheer for different teams...
And I hate how timeline wall is NOT really chronological and linear, so I have to look left, right, left, right to read someone's posts in order.

yeah right! Some of my friends were doing that and still doing it. They tend to post every single thing they are doing, capture every food they have eaten and places they have been.. stuffs like that. It's kinda annoying, yes, but for me it's fine if it was from those people that matters to me. There are just people who keeps doing it that you are not really close with, so you're like.. "the hell I care!" ;-)

I think Facebook in itself isn't actually bad. When you look right down to it, it is actually a good site and it serves its purpose well: to socialize like any other social networking sites there is. It just happen to be a haven for those people who seeks attention or maybe some means to make themselves feel better by showing their "lucrative" lives.
When you actually check my wall, you will immediately think that you're in a perfect world where everyone is happy and everyone's got whatever material things they want. Then suddenly, you'll be thrust in hell where all the hardships, heartaches and arguments are being thrown against some unnamed adversary. It's enough to drive a grown woman like me crazy; that's why I urge my kid siblings to stay away from it lest they may be influenced by such people.
These annoy me; but thank goodness for hide and unsubscribe

You are very right and even I concur with on these points. Another irritating aspect is the number of game and app requests that I receive. Unfortunately I had set notifications in my email. i thought only important updates would come. But soon my email started getting flooded with updates from facebook and then i stopped the notification. People have got too much involved in facebook that they would just post anything in the wall.

i'm guilty about the pictures, your honor! ha ha but then again i use FB as a temporary online storage of my pics. a friend told me that it is also useful to have an online facility to keep your pics. when i find time, i delete some of the pictures and transfer then to another online photo site.
but, oh yes, it is annoying to see ridiculous updates. i would prefer to see updates on meaningful statuses or funny events that could make one laugh out loud.

I do have a few friends who do all of the above, but the ones that bother me more are those that are complaining about how much they have to do--if you have so much to do then why are you on facebook???
