When the US 4*200m Freestyle Relay team won their gold medal, Phelps achieved what no other Olympian has achieved so far, that is win 19 Olympic medals. He has so far won 15 gold, 2 Silver and 2 Bronze medals which is really phenomenal. Of course, he still has more events to go at London where so far his record has been a bit less impressive with just 1 gold and 1 silver. :) So now with the Legacy firmly established, is it mission accomplished for Phelps or will he go for more medals now!! Cheers! Ram

I think Phelps will try to win as many more medals as possible having been to London. I do not know the reason for his lesser performance this year.

In my opinion I think it is not because his performance is lesser or if that is the case then he became too confident thinking that no one will ever beat him. But then I think because his opponents work harder and really think of the strategies and techniques that can beat Michael Phelps.

Also, Phelps did not compete for the first two years after the Olympics. So he started his preparations of the Olympics pretty late compared to other players. Cheers! Ram

I enjoyed reading your post. I really think Michael Phelp will retire after this Olympic 2012 this year. I say this because he is now entering his late 20s and this in my opinion is old for an olympian. Another opinion I would like to state is that he has proven himself countless times and I feel he should progress and continue with other areas beyond swimming. In other words, he should just live his life. After accomplishing so many medals, training, and putting his life on hold due to training purposes it is only befitting that he transition to the next level. 19 Olympic medals, makes Michael Phelp the Michael Jordan of swimming if there were ever such a thing. What are your thoughts? All comments, feedback, and suggestions are encouraged and appreciated.

Absolutely he is a legend. I would think that after a break, he might come back to do some coaching or something like that related with swimming. Cheers! Ram

I am totally happy for Michael Phelps that he is born to win and have fame for Olympics. He may have good example to the whole nation and inspire other athletes. He is good and lucky enough to have that kind of fate because not all people can have the opportunity to be Olympian like him. He really made it on the history. With his 1 gold and 1 silver ironically with his 1 gold he just got it with his team in riley. Nevertheless it is still the game and I believe to Phelp's credibility of being greatest Olympian. In every game there is a winner and a person who will lose that Michael Phelps even experienced that. Because if he didn't lose then I doubt it that he will be that champion.

Yes, there is not doubt he is a champion. And he responded pretty well to finishing 4th in the first race at the 2012 Olympics by almost picking up a gold, but had to settle for silver due to a Rookie mistake. But then now he has his gold albeit in a team event. Cheers! Ram

Maybe he would consider to join tract and field next? What other could do, he can do better. He has got enough of his gold medals in the pool. Time for a new play ground.

There is a saying that you cannot teach new tricks to an old monkey. :) So I would rather say that he can now become a swimming coach. Cheers! Ram
