Great day for Team GB

At last, the home nation has something to really cheer about. Our ladies won the first-ever rowing gold, Bradley Wiggins became the most successful Olympian ever, and Michael Jamieson pulled a silver in the 200 metre breast stroke.
Some commentators have been a bit optimistic to say the least about our chances. I think the hype has got to them, and they've been disappointed, even though many of our athletes have turned in personal bests and rewritten the record books.
Today, we finally got some gold, and I for one am really proud of Team GB. What do you think?

i feel glad to hear that your team have already won gold. it only shows that your government supports your athletes well. other countries even get more and look at china. but we have only sent 11 participants to different events. some have already been eliminated and the only hope left for us to get a medal is in boxing, but still a long way to go.

Hello, Neil. It's amazing that your country only sent a team of 11 athletes. The Phillippines is quite heavily populated, so is it because there isn't the money for sports, or that there is not enough support for the athletes from the government and corporate sponsors? Good luck in the boxing anyway.
Obviously, with so little participation in the games, together with the time difference, I don't suppose people in your country are very interested in the Olympics. In the UK, it's all anyone is talking about, and the papers are full of it. Those who aren't at the events in London are glued to their television screens from morning till late evening. We're in Spain, but there are a lot of British expats in our area, so there's real excitement and anticipation.

Bradley Higgins is becoming a legend in English cycling now after winning the Tour De France earlier. Good to see that England is doing well as one of the key aspects of a successful Olympics is that the host nation should perform as that brings crowds to the stadiums.
Sadly for me, India still is on one solitary Bronze medal. :)
Cheers!

It's always great when the host nation get their share of gold medals in the Olympics. Not two years ago, the winter olympics was near here, and I had the chance to go to a few venues. It was a great atmosphere (and even a great party at night!) when the host wins.
I'm waiting for more drama!
