People who view our profile

Hello.
Yesterday I saw that my profile was viewed 14 times. I was happy to see that someone showed interest to know what is written in my profile page.
One hour later the viewers were not 14, they were 13, after that 12.
So it got me wondering about how this works. Does this system, which counts our profile viewers restart in 24 hours? Do the viewers start again with the number of 0 next day?
I apologize if the discussion sound out of sense for some people. I am just curious to know more about it.

Then note when it was posted - 3 years ago and nothing has altered since then 
I promote my myLot profile on other sites. For example, I pay for 1000 views and I am certain that they arrive because I have counters and trackers linked to my profile and those views appear. (I have just noticed too that one is not there so I will go and retrieve it). However the total amount of views does not add up correctly, just as it didn't 3 years ago

Thank you very very much for sharing this with me Diana. I was surprised and little in a question why this number goes down instead of up.
Decided to ask, because I haven't seen this explained in the rules. Of course it might be explained somewhere and if it was so, I missed reading it.
I remember the times when I was new here, my english was so worse than now, I could give up of reading, just because I had to use dictionary for every second or third word. I will check the link you gave me now.

That discussion was started by the original GoAskAlice. It would be interesting to see if Alex is aware of the problem, though I doubt that many Lotters are concerned with it as it appears that not many use their profile outside myLot.

from my experience the system resets values at a certain set time and counts from that time for the next 24 hours, but obviously i cant say that's really the hard and fast fact, as i have been a member for no more than 2 to 3 days .
i think this question can be better answered by any admin or by reading through the FAQ so make sure you check both out for your best response.

I for one is not so keen in looking at people's profile except when I want to send tham a friend request. It is also the same to how I handle my profile, I hardly go back to see who have visited it as am hardly here playing around, I treat my profile here like how I do on other sites, either forums or social networking sites, it is all the same for me. Although, I try to go back there once in a while to check my last responses given to a discussion which I find interesting so as to keep track of what the other Mylotters are saying in their responses.
It is good you took notice of such views and now this got me thinking if I should add a statcounter to my profile and also go outside of Mylot to generater views or buy like MysD have said because it might just be for the purpose of getting other people to know about Mylot and join, this is a strategy I use outside of Mylot to get referrals, so I might as weel to that to get referrals here too.

It may be as per the system time and you may be repoened the site after the time specified for myLot. What about today, just check the it for 2-3 days and see there is any difference and you can come to know accordingly.
