Are Remakes Worth Watching?

Many of you as myself get caught up in the world of film. Wether it's a escape to another world, screaming from fright, learning a life lesson or just wanting to laugh. I try and give them all a chance and maybe a bit out of the norm I find movies in all genres that I can enjoy. That being said I have to ask "Can't the filmmakers, producers and writers come up with any new ideas, why all the remakes?". I really don't mind a remake, if it is in homage to the original or because of technology, it's a bit dated . Today there are more and more remakes making there way to a theater near you. I feel the filmmakers are ripping off others' ideas in order to make a quick buck, not that all of them make a profit, but you know what I mean. And if they are going to do this, can't they do it well, for example Halloween 2 by Rob Zombie. If you didn't already know it was a remake you would not be able to tell. Nothing against Zombie, I like "his" movies, but his interpretation was way off course. Remakes in my opinion should, in fact be remakes, enhanced with the technology of today, and maybe a tweak here and there, other than that they should be left alone. Most of the movies being remade today were big hits when they first hit the silver screen, True Grit, Footloose and The Longest Yard just to name a few, but as remakes they didn't have much sparkle. If we the consumer keep buying into the remake game, buying those movie tickets, purchasing those DVDs, Hollywood will never get it. If you must make a remake, do it proudly with style, stick with the original story and let us recognize the original.

Remakes are more for the money then anything else. The movie doesn't even have to be good. A lot of people will go watch it just because they want to see if it stands up to the original. It will still usually not make as much money as the original did. But with today's economy they figure something is better then nothing.

yeah..some remakes are good..or better some times.. i only hate remakes if it too close from the last movies..like the spiderman trilogy by sam raimi acted by Toby mcguire..and then suddenly u have Amazing spider man..(a reboot.) they call it..starting all over again.. unless..a remake is so neccessary like that horrible HULK film acted by eric bana(not his fault)directed by ANg lee(his fault)..really horrible and embarrassing to watch.. a btter remake comes to the rescue quickly as part of the avengers series..HULK with Edward Norton.. ;) that follows closely the ever loved tv series..

I like comparing the originals to the remakes, it's just neat to see the slight changes that are made and to try and figure out why they chose to take that approach. In my experience, remakes are normally more interesting to watch than the originals, I know this is based on personal taste and film choice of course.

Rob Zombie is great But he should stick to do with what he does best and that is the music

Sometimes I go to watch a remake, to check it with the original if I liked very much the first movie. Sometimes the remake has a couple of better situations or actors, but not always.

Yes they are worth watching. You get to compare the remake to the original and it could also be a good group discussion. You get to learn everybody's opinion and what could have been done if they were to direct or remake a certain movie. It sometimes lead to a big laugh especially if one has a really funny idea on how to do it. Interesting!

Generally the remakes are better but not always. When they make a movie over and make it modern they really have to work hard to make it a lot better so people who saw the first original movie dont walk away thinking the remake didnt live up to the first one. I love the texas chainsaw massacre movie the original one and I think they did an amazing job remaking it. My husband bought the movie for me for one of my birthdays or anniversaries. I've watched it before that but I've only watched the movie once since I've owned it in all these years because it scares me so bad lol.

Remakes can be done correctly or poorly , some dont need the treatment in my opinion like Robocop or Jurrassic Park and its really all about the timing of the remake , dont remake a flim within a ten year span or shorter , at least make the people forget about the original lol , i was talking yesterday at the job about this very subject adn said theyll probaly remake The Matrix series ...as foolish as it is anything is possible at this point
