I just watched a show online and it showed how people can use a potato, cut it in half and make stamps out of it...but how? I'm wondering if I can just use a design press it into the potato take it out and then it'll look like a stamp? If someone can help me with this thank you. :)

I have seen it done though I haven't done it myself. I really don't know how it can work as the potato is so moist you would think the ink would run...or maybe they use paint. I know it's possible....but I won't be trying it anytime soon...if you do let us know how it turns out.

That is really easy. Cut potato. Decide what you want your design to be. Carve everything off the potato except what you want to be stamped (basically a reverse image if you are doing a letter) apply ink or paint and then press to a clean sheet of paper or cloth done!

This article explains it nicely in photos: http://keepinglifecreative.com/crafting-with-kids/potato-stamping/ You can, indeed, press something into the surface of the potato but the indent is likely to be too shallow to print successfully as it is. You will probably need to use a knife to cut away the parts you don't want to print. Bold, simple shapes work best.

I've seen that before but never had any interest in doing it. Martha Stewart has done it before so you could probably find good tutorial and instructions there.

I cut the potato. Then I drew a leaf, petal, whatever in the cut part. After that, it is carved so that the dessign can be painted and then placed in the material you want to paint.
