Hi there myLotters!
It has been a while since I made another discussion. Well, this topic just came off my mind when I am wandering during the time I wake up and commute to work and commute back home. So, you got time?
I really don't know, but I feel like time is almost always running out from me. It seems that 24 hours is not enough to live by nowadays. Even though one can contest that everybody has the same twenty four hours per day to live be, I feel that I am not getting that maximum twenty hours. Or maybe I am just thinking of a lot of things to do with so much limited time. I feel that the world nowadays really maximize the time of the world. Especially during work. It seems that all companies are driving people nuts making them efficient and spending all their time to do work. It turns out people nowadays don't have the time for themselves anymore. I don't know. Maybe I just read a lot of self help books promoting time for thy self. But still, I am living in the world where competition rings out and efficiency and time is so valuable they will soak it out from you.
Oh well, maybe this is a rant about how stress now I am. I feel I have a lot of back log already with myself, my relationships and career that I blame time not being enough.
Do you guys feel the same way too? I mean, how do you effectively manage your twenty four hours when there are a lot of things to do and a lot more other things people want to do and should be doing. Maybe I just have to slow down a bit and not chase too much goals at a time. What do you think?
Do you got time to hear my rant and care to teach me a thing or two about time management?
Hoping to catch some of your time responding to this discussion of mine.
Any thoughts are highly appreciated!

Whoa! That is quite a share. Good thing that you are alive. I really don't have a liking for motorcycles. And whenever I am on the road, I am really annoyed by them. They can't seem to hit their brakes when needed and they only look to move and move even the space they moved in are narrower than what they think. Anyway, you have shared a great case for me to slow down on things. Now, I just realized that I might end up killing myself or putting my life in peril by moving too fast that my body and mind can't handle. I must be slowing down a bit. Thanks for sharing. I really appreciate it.

Yeah, sometimes we just need to force ourselves to slow down. Your alternative option is good and more than accomplished your goal to slow down. Apparently, I still don't have any idea on how to slow down my world. I am working in a fast paced industry and I really can't think of how to slow down my environment too.

when you are in a competitive world, it is almost impossible to slow it down, but the choice is always ours, not the world around us, pulling yourself off of the fast paced world that you are in and your done, you are always welcome in a world were time seem to stop...

I agree with you, that days seem to be getting shorter with an ever expanding world market, and the internet. However there are ways to make you're life feel a little better and the first thing is to leave work at work and home at home. If you cannot get everything done at work that you need to in a day, do it in the morning the next work day. If the job is time sensitive then spend the extra few minutes to complete it and FORGET it at home. Same thing works in reverse, if you find yourself thinking of home stuff at work, stop, clear your head and focus on work stuff- you will find that you will become more productive and get more done, there for give yourself more you and family time because you are not worrying about work at home.
It's not really about time management, its about productivity. If you are productive then the time doesn't really matter because it all gets done.
And really because you commute make the most of that time. That is time you are alone, to think, scream at your steering wheel or otherwise just be alone. A lot of people now a days don't get that luxury. I know I actually look forward to getting stuck in traffic once in a while, because it gives me time to think, without distraction and to just be with myself. No scheduling needed for that- because that time is already there.
I guess to sum this up (sorry about rambling) I have learned that that more you stress about not having enough time, you are wasting time! The more you think about it, the less you are thinking about the things that matter- like your family or what's for dinner. Then you get all worked up and stressed and nothing gets done right because you can't think right, and then you realize you are wasting time stressing and the vicious cycle starts all over again~!
Happy mylotting and stop worrying, nothing in life is more important that your own life, and the lives of those close to you.

Wow! You got a point out in there. Maybe I worry too much. But there are times that I don't worry that much but the things to do just piles up and I really feel I wasted some opportunity to do some things because there are other stuff that is needed to be done. The concurrent things like having lots of work that you can't even have a hair cut for yourself. It is currently happening to me right now! I wake up too early for the barber shop to open and I come home late to even catch an open barber shop. Weekends it could be, but those are the time when I will go out to do sports activities or traveling out or hang out with friends. I just feel that the world now demands more multitasking than it did before with all the drive for productivity and efficiency going on. And with your suggestion to quit work, I am planning on that already. To retire early is my goal that is why I am working doubly hard to be able to pile up some good money and enter business and investments to be able to quit work. I think if I have no work, time will be a little bit loose already.
I will surely follow your advice on worrying things making me waste time doing so. No whining, no worrying, and focus on the things to do! That's the way to go!
Thanks for you response. But by any chance, do you have any techniques in managing your time to fit all things within your schedule? Any tips are highly welcomed!

I am weird and kinda insane when it comes to my management skills. Management of any kind- I just do things and they work. I know it sounds weird but yeah. Um, I guess if I had to break it down, I tend to break things down- If I have a big project or work load I don't look at it as ONE big thing, I break it down into things I can complete quickly- like if I have to put out a ton of stock that just came into my store, I will look over it and grab things that go into the same area- BUT I do NOT take the time to organize the pile, I just grab and go. And out of my co-workers and boss I am the fastest. If I have a ton of house work then I work from the place I don't want to be to end up like some place I do. For example I start in the bathroom and clean it, skip my bedroom so I am not tempted to lay down and start the laundry then clean the kitchen- living room (don't vacuum) then do my bedroom and remind myself I have to vacuum the entire house before I can crash on my bed with my lap top. And it's done in no time.
I do the same with shopping and my friends hate me. I write my shopping list in order with the store- so I never have to back track and can be done in like half the time as them, which gives me time to look at clothes or stuff (I normally shop in walmart) while they finish.
OHHH I know this is getting long again, but I thought of something that might help-- make a list of what you do every day for a week. I mean write down everything, potty breaks, snacking, staring off into space, thinking, shopping, showering -- EVERYTHING. Then look at it. Are you doing things that can be done at other times where it would make more sense- like oh making your morning coffee AFTER your shower- so you have to wait for it to brew instead of it brewing DURING your shower and it be ready when you get out? Or taking time to listen to your voice mails at work, instead of using the time in the elevator, stuck in traffic or waiting in line someplace to do that. You'll find minutes that are hiding from you, and find enough you can get some free hours.
It's not really about managing your time sense we can't control time, it's about managing you and how you do things.
Please ask for clarification if I fuddled anything up!

Yeah, I am starting to learn that one. And I am learning it the hard way! I should be taking notes of the things I have to do and always try to put up a plan and a schedule. I learned that in my previous work. The essence and importance of that really shook me off during those times. It indeed makes me more efficient by doing so. But really, doing it is really painful at times and I do get lazy. It takes a whole lot of effort and detail exhausting my brain. But still, it is really an effective technique. Maybe I just have to practice some more to make it a habit too.
You are right, I just have to manage myself and the way I think. Sometimes, laziness gets into me or the worry freak in me comes up. I have to control that one up.
Thank you very much for your smart responses out in here!

Sometimes, I overly abused my free time while they are times that I do make the most of it. I am procrastinator by nature and some of ideas and works are better when done in the last minute. Of course, it is not a good excuse for some employers but they deal with it sometimes.
Sometimes, I want to quit full-time working because it is stressing me out and I cannot think clearly when the pressure is on to me. I often rash into my judgment and I often hate my boss because of the pressure of all of it. But we all have to work, one way or another.
Like you, I wish I could do it all in one day and forget it. But we don’t have that luxury. I agree with some commenters/responders out here and maybe I could pick a bone or two form them and you.

Yeah, the pressure of working. The world requirements nowadays are far too complex compared before where simple living is common. It really makes me crazy. Good thing that I got some realization time too to slow me down a bit and clear my mind. Now I am trying to do meditation and breathing exercises to clear my mind of clutters from the pressures of life. Sometimes, the problem of lack of time can be solved by spending wandering in time.
Thanks for your inputs!

I guess you better take things one day at a time. It's ok if you have so many goals but you can't work effectively in reaching your goal if you are distracted by your other goals. Set your priorities straight then live by it. And in doing so, don't forget to have fun as well. You don't want to just be in a corner and not reaping all the rewards, right?

Yeah, that's for sure! However, I really see it difficult enough for me not to check o my other goals too. I really want to pull out everything and reaching them all out is my satisfaction. I don't know, maybe I am just comparing myself to a lot other people out there making me more like wanting to do all what others around me are doing and accomplishing. I see that I have been checking on Facebook from time to time now and is seeing a lot of other people doing and making a lot of stuff. I did want to do such stuff too, however, I do believe I can't d them all. Now I see the root cause of my problem.
Thank you very much for your insights and response. Highly appreciated!

Same as what I am feeling, alright. I feel that I am contained in a rat race. That is why I am working doubly hard right now to attain financial freedom and try to slow down life once I get it. So now, I have to be patient in dealing with the lack of time and pressures of life. How do you relieve your stress with the lack of time?
