I have a friend on fb who is from Spain. Whenever he chats he never uses English language rather he conversed with me in their dialect. Even though i understand some Spanish words yet I can hardly comprehend when it's already in a sentence. For comprehension purposes, I utilize the google translate. And it's really helpful because I was able to get what he means. Now I am interested to learn more Spanish words and expressions. I think it's cool to learn other language aside from our own. What do you think mylotters? What other language would you like to learn? :)

Hi paulli3! There are a lot of ways for you to learn English well. You can enroll in an online ESL tutorial. For sure your English skill will be improved. Also try to watch English movies more often for your listening skill, read more English books for your vocabulary enhancement and so forth. Good luck. Wish you'll get high score in TOEFL. :)

I would like to learn Spanish, because I plan on trsvelling around in South America and Central America in the future and I think that it would be a lot easier to do that I was able to speak some Spanish. I would also like to study French again. I had French lessons in high school, but since that time I haven't used my French at all and I have forgotten so many words. I would like learn French again. That would help me when I travel in some of the French speaking countries in Africa, and I plan on visiting some of those countries in the future.

When I tried speaking romantic phrases in french,it really sounds so sexy nothing compares to the other language. It really is soothing to hear during Valentines day. And also I am looking forward for my immigration application in quebec, canada that's why I' very much interested.

It's true, French is such an interesting language too. I think a lot of people want to learn it. Though it's a bit hard yet I'm positive that you can learn easily that language. Good luck on your application in Canada. There are a lot of good opportunities in there. :)

English being my second language and Chinese being my native, I learned a bit of Spanish through highschool and a bit of Portuguese through my friends as well. I think I want to learn a bit of French. It always fascinated me on their enunciation of different dialects. Hope this helps. :-)

Hi, I do have friends from other countries on Facebook but they are mainly from U.K. and U.S. So they speak to me in English which I am able to understand quite well though it is my second language. My first language is Bengali. I have some friends from the Philippines too and they also converse with me in English. I am really interested in learning French as I am a student of English literature and we often get some French quotations in our books or cross-references to French works of literature while studying. Moreover, the most important reason is that I have read English translations of famous French texts which I would like to be able to read in original French if I can learn the language well. For instance, I am highly interested in reading Albert Camus' 'The Outsider' in its original language as I often have the feeling that sometimes subtle nuances and the entire spirit of the text cannot be captured in translation. It is cool that you have a Spanish friend and this has led you to garner an interest in the language. Hope we can really learn the languages we want to know well.

Umh, currently i have no plan to learn other language. I used to learn french..and now i forget all. My Korean is poor, just for basic conversation only. I just try to use English everyday by chatting with my friends since i am living in Vietnam now, not many chances to speak English with anyone around...

I would like to learn Japanese. I think it is a beautiful language. The only exposure I've had to Japanese is a song from 1963 titled "Sukiyaki". This was the title only in English speaking countries because it was easier to read/say. When I first heard it I never understood it but now, with computers in use, I have been able to look it up and watch a video of the singer. It doesn't seem like a difficult language to learn as the words are pronounced according to the letters (in English). I have tried to learn Gaelic (I'm second generation Irish-American) but it's very difficult. Nothing sounds the way it looks. I can say one phrase in Gaelic but it's not very nice so I won't repeat it here! ;-)
