So I'm just wondering how many of you have a maid or butler and what sorts of things do they do for you? Do they live with you? Myself, I don't have a maid I just take care of the household myself. I know that in certain countries such as the Phillipines it's common to have a live in maid, here in Canada maids aren't that common but if people have them they usually don't live right on site.

When we were still little, we have a maid and a nanny given that both our parents are working. Now that we're grown, we do not have a live in maid in our employ anymore, but we do hire some people to help us out every once in a while, like the laundry woman to come down here every week or two; or someone to help or do the house cleaning especially when there is a coming special occasion or something. Most of the time we just share the household chores among us.

I've heard that laundry is a very time consuming process through different parts of the world, is this true?

Do you use washing machines and dryers there?

It is, especially if you also have to wash the curtains, blankets, bed sheets, those stuff.

hey there Jshean20. I live in the Philippines but I don't have a maid or butler. Since we are many in the family we all have our own chores to do everyday.

That makes sense, having a lot of people contribute makes a big difference. Am I correct in hearing that a lot of people in the Philippines do have maids? I remember someone telling me this. Thanks for posting.

As to what you had said, yes, most families have maids here. But tell you, the salary are low. :(

That's too bad, wouldn't be an easy job and it doesn't seem fair to not be paid well. Thanks for your input as well.

Hi, i used to have maids when my children were very young. Most of the time i take care of my children my self but i need them to clear the stuffs that i used when taking care of my babies, like they will clear the bathroom, clean the house and take care the babies when i need to sleep. Yes, there are some advantages and non advantages to have maid around but if i were given a chance i will have maids all over my house 24hrs a day

Did you ever feel like the maid was invading your privacy when around? That would be my biggest concern I think.

We don't have any maid at all and ever since. I do have 5 siblings so we really have our own chores at home to help our mother. We have our own chores to do once in awhile.Since all of us our grown up now, we can do chores faster now and better.

I also live in the Philippines Jshean. When my children are younger, I have somebody to take care of them while I am working. But now as they are already in college and high school respectively, I don't anymore hire a helper. They are big enough to take care of themselves.

So would the maids normally take care of the children only or did they also do various chores around the house?
