When I was 6 years old, my parents gave me the first book in then Anne series, Anne of Green Gables, for a birthday present. It was one of the first 'real' books I ever owned, besides my children's books, of course. It was the first book that ever inspired me to love reading and writing stories. The story is about a lonely little orphan girl with nothing in life but a little suitcase and a wild, free, unique imagination. Oh, and I forgot, a great talent for running into scrapes, too! I really loved the story, with its simplicity, its beautiful word pictures and the fun of running into all sorts of problems with Anne, the story's heroine. I also really enjoyed the mixture of the kinds of characters you can imagine, kind Matthew, stern Marilla, gossip Rachel, timid Diana, and a lot more. This was one of the greatest reads in my life. I know a lot of people have read this book, too, and all, both young and old, found it delightful.

I so much love Anne and also her children. I know a lot of people out there feels the same way we do because you can't help but laugh and cry at the same time at all her adventures. Such vivid pictures L.M. Montgomery writes in all her novels, not just the Anne series! I imagine them to myself what if I've also lived in P.E. Island, it must be a wonderful place. Now, I have to search for an interest on L.M. Montgomery here on Mylot. I am reading today the Emily series and I've also grown fond of her, but not so much as Anne.

I certainly loved these books, all the way up to when Anne is an adult. Their life is so simple and endearing, you just have to root for all the characters to end up all right. It's normally not my kind of book, at all, but yes, it was a childhood favorite.

Yes, loved the Anne series! Up until Rilla of Ingleside, which made me cry like a baby! So simple, sweet, full of imagination and life, life, life...Definitely one of the best book series I can remember reading.
