ok most of the time when i get here at mylot i notices that most of the discussions here are titled with a question. i don't know if you are one of them... my question is why do you do it (if you have did the samething)? and why not (if you don't)? does by doing this help your discussion gain popularity or people will notice them? has anyone here gives you a good answer to your questions?

I have some discussions titled with a question too. What I think about that is, some really wanted an answer to something. Trying to get help from fellow lotters. While some of us thinks that it can attract people into joining their discussion.

is that how you perceive mylot? to ask help with whole community with the question that bugs you... don't mean to offence or something? it's just i wan't to get into deep here... it's just that i know that mylot is a discussion site... it's like istorya(dot)net it has discussion and so on. some of the post are related to news and happenings around the globe... all i am saying is that mylot is a great medium to reach out specially that some news are block or we don't get access to other happening in the world. like the shoot out that happens during the premier of dark knight. it's here at mylot (thanks to fellow myloters) that i heard the news before our local tv did. i learn what had happened there and it's effects to locals in that area. all i am saying is that we should use mylot to it's full potential.

I didn't say that's how I perceive mylot... please try to read what my answer is and you will understand what I said. I said 'some' wanted an answer to something. And we cannot deny the fact that there are many people doing that, posting discussions entitling it with a question. It doesn't mean that they just want a one-liner answer from fellow members, most of the time that is where the real discussion begins.

and about the current events that you were saying... myLot is not a newspaper for us to get the updates... we can actually read it first online if only we would open yahoo news and any other news site. Those are the first to feed us these kinds of news. we can only say that everyone here has their own style in getting the attention of fellow lotters, so for me a question and answer style of entry isn't a big deal as compared to those people who post current events that we can actually see everywhere on the Internet.

I think that the topics titled with a question are not the majority. Indeed on this page right now, out of 10 topics, there are only 2 with a question in the title. Of the discussions that I have started, many have a question and many don't. I am certainly aware that a topic for discussion does not have to be a question but I am also aware that many Lotters find it much easier to participate when there is a specific question involved. Many new users seem to think that myLot is indeed a question and answer site and it takes some time for them to realise that here on myLot we are supposed to start, and get involved in, quality discussions which are far removed from being questions that require an answer.

You are mistaken. Polls are not allowed here and are deleted by admin.

ohhh yes they are doing that indirectly... you can do it... i did and it works... like "i like ice cream, do you" type of poll... the poll give us idea how many people are liking something... and it's like a doing it indirectly. others will give you their answer and why they do it... but if you look at it's still a poll on how many people out of the people that respond (percentage) likes it.

I have started some discussion with a question title . I have no special reason why I do it just giving the readers a idea of what I am about to talk about and I want their input . And some times I want hep with something so I ask for help .

Actually for me it is not a big deal you know why? Beasue in every discussion there are various of question and answer. Some of the topics here are in question or say sound looking for an opinion or views in order to have a 2nd thought or make a final dicission. Ok I admit some of the topic here are in questions including me have few in question, may be that's the way to express the idea or asking a solution. I think it is better that creating a topic that just a trevia topic.

i just want to understand if the question titled discussion really nailed it. i mean do you really draw more people at mylot to answer your discussion... it's really important. or may be you are not using it to it's full potential... it's how you will understand human and how they will respond to things.

Ok I got your point. You know we are not same to each other I mean is our educational level some are really good to understand that's why we cannot avoid question which I think really easy to understand.. In my observation mostly or may be 85% of topic titles here are in form of question and mostly those questions are from newbies..

lntiangrace Your discussion made me go through my discussions. I had to screen them to post my response. I belong to the second category. I do not think it is required to make it question oriented in title. A few members may be doing it because they make it as if they are talking with people. for me both options are fine. What about you? You start title with questions or not?

hey i did it... if i'm doing some poll on here... well indirectly. it's a research type of thing... and right now i am doing it. i am not asking the question on the title but i am doing it with my whole discussion. i want to understand how a mind would respond to this post... it's really fun knowing that people are easily drawn to things. the research is how you can catch an attention... how to title it and have views.

Sometimes i do and sometimes i don't it depends on what i want to be talking about. some things are just easier to make conversation about with a question to start people off on what to think about.

Many times I have started discussions with a Question, but it often depends on what type of discussion I am starting, and where. I find there being nothing wrong with starting a discussion with a question, and often gives people more of a choice whether they are wanting to respond or not. Same as when I choose to respond many times it is by the starting topic but sometimes it takes for me to open it to decide if I want to respond back or not.

Normally, if the discussion is for a clarification or some confirmation it can be end up with a question mark, that is quite genuine. It may depend on what they are discussing and if it is a kind of statements or anything other than doubts, why people should keep a question mark, which is not necessary.

It depend upon the matter i discuss. Sometimes i ask question, some time it may be simple statement or sentence. i dont think question will yield more responses. If some unexpected discussion yields many responses. And responses don't pay unless we give comment back.. Mylot only pay for what we do, not for what others do in our discussion. If you get more response, you just have more room to make comments.

Maybe this is because many people can't really find a good topic, and they limit themselves to asking questions. I don't really see so many questions like discussions on mylot. Maybe in the " making extra money" categories are a lot of questions, but those are well based since propel really want to know different and new ways of earning online. Personally, I don't formulate my threads as questions, and I don't believe that the asking sign brings more popularity.

You know what i really like here i mylot? We have freedom with discipline.:) I mean, i find nothing wrong if someone would want to start his/her discussion with a question mark... as long as a according to mylot policies you do not abuse or purposely do something to offend someone. If they, or i myself started the discussion with a question, maybe it's because were comfortable with it, so bear with us.. or bear with them. Let's not find someones weakness in something... rather look for it's potential to improve.. :) happy myloting!
