Andy Murray finally lived his Wimbledon dream by winning the Tennis gold at the Olympics. In a completely one-sided match, Andy overwhelmed a misfiring Roger Federer in straight sets breaking him 5 times in three sets to win easily. Roger Federer's radar was completely off mark hitting as many as 34 unforced errors to hand the match in a platter to Andy in front his doting fans at the center court.
So while Roger's dream of winning Wimbledon and Olympic gold vaporizes, the rise of Andy and Wimbledon glory is on him albeit not in the Grand Slam format.
Cheers!
Ram

Let's just hope that this would carry over to the Grand Slams so that he can finally end all this talk about "the last English player to win a grand slam is Fred Perry" talk.

I love Federer but I am so happy for Murray, I knew he had it in him to win it, that's fantastic news for him

It is good that Murray has finally given his long patient fans a notable win at home. Murray should give a great big thank you to Del Potro for giving Federer such a tough match in the semifinal. Now, one has to wonder if this will spur Murray on to more wins and maybe Wimbledon someday or if with the pressure off a little will he have a let down and not win much else.

It is indeed a great moment for Andy Murray and his country. he has truly done them proud.
Yet, Roger Federer must not despair. It many a times happens that some top sportspersons are way off the mark at times. It happens and is not uncommon.

This will be a great boost up for Murray. He held his cool being tremendous all throughout the tournament and correctly ending up highest on the podium. Though Murray was in the driving seat right from the start of the match but I had a belief Federer would definitely make a comeback. He has done it too many times in past, loosing two and then continuing his skills and stamina to win remaining three. But I guess Murray had an idea of this too. He didn't give him chance to make that vital comeback he always needed. Well Done Murray.
