I was watching the TV show cats from hell. This show is about cats who behave badly and someone who comes into the home to solve the problems. This is the first night I have really watched this show for any length of time. These are the things I realized were common to each case. First one and most common, humans
identified with cats as though they were other humans, the cat's bad behavior was
attributed to trying to hurt the human. Owners felt that the bad cats were bad to get back at their owners. A cat that peed on the floor was doing so to punish the owner. Now if you are a successful cat owner you know that a cat is totally self centered and if you are lucky you are that cat's favorette slave. This being so when a cat is not behaving well it is because something is wrong from the cat's point of view. A cat the is peeing outside the litter box, may be marking territory against invading stray or outside cats. A cat that is pooping outside the litter box, may not be able to use the box due to pain. This happens mostly with declawed cats who's paws hurt to much for them to dig in the litter. Most of what desturbs cats are fear or pain cause. I haveneverhad a catact up the way the catson the show acted, but I alsowatchmy cats for any devation of normal habits and the firstthing I do is get them to the Vet for a checkup. Domestic cats can get several sever sicknesses which cause terrible pain and even death if it becomes cronic the only way they will show pain is to act out. Please pay close attention to your cat.

Lol. Who would have thought someone can order cats on what to do? Cats are not so stubborn after all. :D

First of all, thank you for all the tips you gave us savypat. This post is sure informative especially for those serious cat breeders/owners.
I got the chance to watch one episode of My Cat from Hell and I was truly amazed on how 'Jackson Galaxy' corrects the behavior of the 'troubled cats'. This show is like the Dog Caesar Milan's Dog Whisperer, only more amazing since we rarely see cats being trained or being told on how to behave.

I try to be a well-behaved human. My feline overlords think that I manage much of the time.
I saw that show listed in the line-up, but I thought that it might be a tad bit offensive to the feline members of our family (not to mention, I think that my boyfriend may have been less than impressed with it), so I found something else for all of us to watch--or pretty much ignore, which is what we generally do with the television.

LOL, I heard about this we being their slaves. I have 4 rescued, I think they act differently for being thankful and never had a problem or felt I was serving any cat, all I rescued in my life were always obedient and more like a dog, coming after me, making me company cause they seem to feel when you are lonely, sad, in pain, so the answer I think would be to rescue/adopt cats, and the problems goes away

I think its a little bit ridiculous to make shows like this but that's not really the point of your post so lets see...
I think that I agree with you on most of it. We used to have a cat that was acting out all of the time and I believe before we got him he had been possibly abused or attacked by dogs or something... we had him checked out and he was in some pain but it wasn't really something that could be fixed... It wasn't our doing of course and we tried to treat him the best we could even though he was really hard to deal with at times.
I think that there are also some cats that will act out because the owner won't pay attention to them enough. Cats are a little different than most pets. They are self centered yeah and they also have this pride about them that if you're not giving them the attention they want, its going to be hard to deal with that cat...

Cats are like any other animal in this regard, they will do what they learn is something they can get away with. To take proper care of your cat, you have to learn how they learn, and then teach them.
