I think they are all very important at all times of year, not just when it's hot, because of vitamin content and they are essential for the proper working of our body. When it's very hot though, I like to buy a big melon, cut it open, scoop the seeds out then throw them away, then cut the melon into bite-sized chunks which I put into a large dish and refrigerate for a few hours. It's very cooling, refreshing and has a high fluid content.

Sticking the fruit in the refrigerator is a good idea. I also like to freeze the fruit and then have small chunks of frozen fruit though the day. The vitamin content is also a very good thing to point out, thanks

Well as far as my knowledge goes, all vegetables are equally important for us irrespective of all seasons. There is no question in distinguishing between them. You should go for all the vegetables.

Yes I agree all vegetables are good for you. I eat a lot of them all the time. I even have a garden to produce what I can instead of buying store bought.

Salads are always a good idea in hot weather, so there are the classic vegetable like tomatoes, lettuce, cucumber but things like carrots, apples, watercress, raw spinach leaves are all good options. Then there a fruits like watermelon, melon and most summer fruits if kept in the fridge and eaten cool will cool the body.

I've heard about watercress before but never had a chance to try it. The spinach salads are good with tomatoes added to them. I mix fruits together and then add either whipped cream or flavored yogurt to them. It makes for a great desert for the kids to have.

The same vegetables that are available in the summer are not in the winter so don't worry about it, you can eat what's on the season cause they grow exactly in the time we need. The winter vegetables have more minerals specially and all we need on summer while the winter's can help us to stay warm.

The variety of vegetables is good to point out. It does seem that the fruits that grow in the summer have more water content in them. I guess this would be needed more then in the winter. Thanks for pointing that out.

Vegetables that are abundant in water content are the best ones to keep cool during the hot weather. Fruits such as citrus fruits, watermelons, cucumbers, tomatoes, musk melons etc. are the best ones to help beat the heat! Also make sure that you include lots of green leafy veggies as you can.

Spinach is a good vegetable to use in salads. I like to eat fresh salads made of spinach with tomatoes. It is one of the things I like to grow in the garden. But in the summer it is a little harder to grow.

Salads seem to be what everyone likes the most. I eat a lot of them as well and it helps with the heat a little. I also make fruit salads on occasion but not to often. Thanks for the comment and the advice.

I love all sorts of veggies and I don´t think that some are better than others. I just think that it is better if we eat more than one veggie in our salad. Where I live, the temperature does not rise above 34º C in Summer and not for the whole day. So maybe that depends on where you live. But I´d drink more water to hydratate me.

I"ve never heard of this that vegetables effect our temperature. If they do then I should be eating more in this hot weather. My suggestion is to make juices out of various kinds and perhpas one of them will be that kind that helps you.

My personal view, and this is just what i think, is that theyre so good in summer as they have a high water content. Also i LOVE a large variety in salad or fruit salad, i ind it refreshing. I also find if you fill up on fruit and vegetables you feel a nice comfortable satisfied full, where as if you fill up on starch fatty foods you feel a bloated full. THere isnt any hard and fast rule on waht to eat when it is hot, but the things i find the most refreshing are lettuce bell peppers, cucumber, raw carrots and things like that, bascially i find the most freshing things are the oens you can eat raw. Maybe it because you can refirgorate them and have them nice and cool and cripsy. Apples and grapes are freshing too

Thanks, salads seem to be one of the more chosen foods for summer. A lot of people like fruit salads but I prefer vegetables. I agree with you that they do add a lot of water to your diet. That is needed in the summer to help keep your body hydrated.
